Pinch Weld jack Adaptors

I've been given the go ahead to do Group Buy on some Pinch Weld Jack Adaptors

I had the problem finding a suitable spot for a trolley jack and a second spot to lower the car onto axle stands. I could find two places but they were too close and the jack would interfere with the positioning of the axle stand.

After some research i tried to make a pad out of rubber to allow jacking the car up where the OEM jack locates.

I bought a few pucks and cut a groove with a hand saw and chisel. A little rough but it worked very well, you jack up at the location intended by the manufacturer and find a safe spot for the axle stand.

Note - The groove will be slightly shallower and the piece below the groove slightly thicker on the ones i'll be sending out.

It makes jacking up easyer and safer as you're not looking right under the car....jacking up a bit, double checking, jacking some more, adjusting then finally jacking the car up. My car is a 1.5Ton Impreza and there is no problem or ill effects to the adaptor or car.

I've now bought a couple tools to allow machining the groove smoothly which gives a much better look - an exanple of these are shown below: -

I've been allowed to put on a Group Buy for these. The cost will be £7 delivered or £13 for two. If you add your name to the list i will PM you my paypal address.

The groove will be approximately 19mm wide by 17mm deep as standard.

Note: - These are only to allow lifting the car until you position an axle stand, you should never work under a car solely supported by a jack (with or without a Seam Weld Adaptor).

P.S. I know this is going to be asked - My jack is from Costco - £65 +Vat, it's very good but rather heavy.

I already got one from Bero - good stuff. Not needed it for the Z though.

Nice little device Bero, but you don't really need them for the Zed??

I use the same jack and that's perfectly adequate to lift the entire side or end of the Zed in one go on the jacking pads or rear cent re point and then lower it onto stands on the OEM pads.

The motorcar has been around for 340 years and we've all managed without these in the past, as will 99.99% of the population in the future. My car is similar in stiffness to your Zed - I can jack up on one point to raise the whole side of the car. But i still find it easyer using these - you jack up on the OEM point with an adaptor then place two jack stands under the car and lower the car onto the stands.

After PVR bought one he mentioned there was some interest on Z4-F. So I though i'd offer them here to prevent people having to sign up to another forum.

I think these are great and like i PMed a good while back on DW when i pull my finger out will get them to suit the Z4, Boxster and Freelander as a trolley jack is much better IMO for a quick jack up and wheel off than the standard ones you get.

Cheers

OK, thanks.

Updare for all - i'm waiting for machine parts to continue making these. Sorry for the delay - if anyone wants a refund just let me know.

Hopefully i'll find parts next week!

I've been drawing blanks on sourcing spare parts over the last couple weeks. So I bought a new one yesterday, as i've broken two already I went for the best spec i could find - a princly sum but hopefully it will stop any further problems. I'll need a new cutter too but will get that today and start making these again.

If anyone else wants one please drop me a pm for my paypal address. PawnSacrifice, gannet, jabber, APR1962 you should have them for this weekend.

dgm you have payment details. If anyone else wants one let me know.
