Pin Prick Windscreen Chip and Wipers

I’ve got a pin prick chip on my windscreen that is causing a line of water when the windscreen wipers are running. You can barely see the chip and the only reason I know it’s there is I followed the line and found it was a little sharp in this spot.

I would think this is too small to go through my insurance but I’d like to try and stop it catching the wipers. Do you think a spot of super glue would do the job?

I can try and take a photo if that helps but I don’t think it will show.

Check your insurance policy and you will probably find you can get it seen to at no cost. If you leave it, it could develop into a crack and that will lead to a windscreen replacement.
Get it assessed and don't put glue in it as that would prevent it being fixed at a later date.
I've just had one done through insurance company by autoglass and I didn't even have to contact the insurance.

I do get it filled no cost but the windscreen really needs replacing as it's got loads of these all over (but only this one catches the wipers) and has been scratched by the wipers in the past.

The excess for this £70 so I wanted to try and postpone this for a month or two.

I'll check if I can get it filled and replaced in the same policy term.

hi. beware i had a small chip that was doing the same to the wipers as yours, so thought i would get the chip repaired. windscreen technician turned up to do the chip(free) and he did warn me that it could result in the chip developing into a crack........yep you guessed it, had to have a new windscreen as the chip was now too big to pass the mot :x £70 excess but it does look good with a new screen

My wife was told a pin prick hole was too small to be fixed they wanted us to wait until it had properly cracked.

I used some clear araldite, filled the hole, put some tape over until it set then polished it with glass cleaner.

The stuff from AutoGlym, just to give a smooth surface so the wipers didn't leave a trail, which they didn't.

I thought I'd post an update.

Windscreen repair is no longer free as it has a £25 excess for me. They said the pin prick ones could not be fixed and offered me a new screen for £75.

I think I'm going to try the glue/resin/polish option then a new Windscreen in the new year.
