Picking UP Wednesday...

Yes, it is Ocean BMW in Falmouth. Never even been to Cornwall before so should be a good day! Keep checking the weather though and it looks like it going to be raining all week again :x

I wasn't considering the wood initially but when I tried it in the configurator I thought it went really well! Unfortunately the colours seem to be more different in real life. I will reserve judgement until I see it Wednesday, but lets face it I'm going to have to live with it! I should really of checked out samples first in the dealer.

This is how the configurator shows it

Ah I know that dealership I had to drop by last summer when I went to visit my folks holiday home near Helston. They seem a nice bunch and sorted out a code error on my E92 free of charge :) I'm sure you will like the colour combo, the wood will mellow the interior but the colours always appear brighter in real life. Combined with the DSB it should really pop

That interior looks very nice - lovely place to be  Not sure on the LHD configuration though

Today was the day! Only arrived home a short while ago, 18 hours after leaving this morning! Of course it well worth it, love the car, colour and interior (worried that I had picked the wrong colours).

Too bad the weather was awful and the car is absolutely filthy after the 300 mile journey home, but I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to put the roof down soon.

Considering the problems I've experienced during buying process, almost everything went smoothly today. The dealer was thoughtful and had the car parked inside ready for my arrival, it looked great and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face :D. A few days ago I asked if they could remove the 'SDrive 28i' badges from the side which they said wouldn't be a problem, only to find lots of small scratches from where they weren't carful enough, when I pointed it out he took the car into the workshop and managed to get the worst out.. still not good enough that damage was caused in the first place. The thing that most annoyed me was originally they were going to deliver it for free to me in London, but once I discovered that would involve someone driving it instead of it being on a flatbed I said I would come down and collect. £100 later in train fares and a day off work, I find there is less than half a tank of petrol. Considering the money it saved them from not having to drive it up (surely they would of used petrol?!) and the cost of paying someone to do it I thought that was a bit off.

Anyway very happy with the car, just trying to find the most comfortable seat position! A few pics....

Congrats and even with the weather not allowing you to enjoy the car with the top down, it still provided you with some nice shots.

Lovely car and some very nice location pics...you have also thrown me into turmoil.

My original order was DSB with Walnut but I could not find a picture or any other owner with that combo to see it in the flesh, it nagged at me for a while and I just wasn't 100% convinced it would look right so i changed my order to the beige.

You sir are a very lucky man to have such a rare and stunning combination. 8)

Enjoy.

Not a fan of the seat/trim combo, but love the seats. I'm toying with the idea of a retrim like that depending on how long I keep the Z4.

Lovely car!!!! Can see why you were jealous at everyone else's collections, but as you say- your turn is here, so enjoy enjoy enjoy!!!!

Totally agree with you collecting it yourself rather than them driving it to you! You want it with delivery miles (circa 10) not 300+ that could've been ragged by some monkey! Plus, makes a better experience I reckon!

Bought a used E46 from Ocean once, so if it is that group, then they were good. Use Westerly mainly, cos they are about a mile from my door!

Love the colour. Think the dark blue with wood trim and cream leather is the best in my opinion, but I do like the wood trim, and anyway, its your car, so who cares what we think!

Sounds like a real cock up over the finance but glad you got it sorted. Must've tainted things a bit, but luckily they were proved wrong and have honoured the deal. Nice to get those photo's as well.

So, to say it again....

ENJOY!!!!!

Where abouts are you? My z4 3.0 came from ocean and I live close to a westerly garage too

I was really worried when the dealer sent me some pics last week, but in the flesh it looks fantastic (if you don't mind me saying so!). Really difficult to capture it accurately in a photo.

When I first considered the Z4, I would not of considered wood trim. Changed at the last minute from carbon effect aluminium.

Was lucky to get a nice picture too, never been to Cornwall before so ended up lost in a car park by the sea, no one else there probably to do with the weather so whipped the camera out!

I know most people aren't a fan of the wood, which I can fully respect.

Wondering why you de-badged the sides, most people will automatically assume that it's the 20i and not the 28i

The wood trim is growing on me though.

Once you have had the car for a little while I would be very interested in reading your review, maybe swap with a 3.0L e89 owner for a while to compare. One of the things I love about mine is how lazy the engine is and how well it pulls from 1200 rpm in 5th. I have not considered the 28i as my next car because of this feeling.

Lovely car. Agree with you about the fuel though, that was tight of them, and the damage when de-badging is not acceptable - I hope they gave you a thousand apologies!!!!

Barnstaple, North Devon. Have seen a DSB and another Alpine White Z4 around.

So what! It doesn't matter what other people think, its what the owner likes that counts!

Asked for it to be de-badged as personally I think it looked a bit busy. Not too bothered if people think it's a 20i just think it looks a bit smarter.

Will be glad to do a mini review once I get more comfortable with the car. Still trying to work out the space I have when parking and driving on narrow lanes. It gives you the feeling it's bigger than it is especially with the massive bonnet!

After work I went for a nice drive, got it cleaned and dropped the roof at the first sign of a clear sky :D . I also managed to install my BlackVue recorder dashcam. Got to say it's a fantastic bit of kit, records everything on the road in HD, logs GPS, G-Forces, sound. The reason I have it, some lady on my development drove into the side of my last car when I was leaving for work one morning, no witnesses unfortunately but she lied through her teeth saying I cut the corner when pulling out. Now if I had this camera then she wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. I highly recommend this particular one if you’re looking for a dashcam. I'll post a video tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Sounds like an interesting bit of kit. Would like to see the video

Personally I think the E89's look better debadged, and besides I think most people would have NFI whether it was a 20i or 28i, all they see is an expensive convertible :P
