picking up replacement car on monday

Well had the replacement car nearly a week very pleased with it the auto box is an excellent piece of kit
only thing wrong was that the model deletion was not done left it to see if it would grow on me but it just did not look right.
It looked ok on the previous car e86 silver gray but it was too much of a contrast on the deep sea blue so took the car in to the dealers yesterday and they removed the badges.
The hand over was great again bottle of nice wine included this time.
I cannot praise the dealers enough for there excellent service and such a quick response to the problem and sorted it out no fuss.
i even managed to win a electric guitar signed by scouting for girls in a prize draw I didn't even realise I had entered the prize draw.
So all in all I would recommend the dealership syntner sheffield and my sales man johnathan eddmunds to any body truly fantastic service

Can you give us more details on the original situation : you had the manual car, presumably expecting hill start etc. How long between taking delivery did you leave it to mention the problem, and what was the course of events?
Did they just offer to replace with auto, or was there a fight?

The lack of hill assist was a problem for the wife not myself
It was a specific question that she asked the salesman at time of order.
I complained about 2 weeks after receiving the car I was told to take the car in to be checked as at the time the dealership did think the car should have hill assist fitted.
The first offer i got from the dealer was for 3 free services I asked if this would stop the car rolling back on hills they said no it wouldn't the next thing they offered the auto option.
I was away on holiday while they sorted it out with bmw, when I retuned I got a call from them and they told me it was all sorted and went ahead and ordered a new car.
This took around 8 weeks to arrive i drove around in the original one until the new one arrived.
If anyone requires any more info please don't hesitate to ask.

Hever had it before, but then I've never had an electronic parking brake before.
Ironically, the loan 116i that I had had hill start assist and a normal parking brake! I wasn't aware of being able to switch it off.
I can't see how it can drive you mad....if your pointing uphill, put car in 1st, clutch down, brake pedal down, release handbrake and then hold car on footbrake. Then, release footbrake onto throttle and then mix throttle and clutch etc as normal to pull off. Hill start holds the footbrake for a few seconds after you release to stop the car rolling back.
If your clutch control is good enough you may not need it....but then, you wouldn't notice it, so I cant see the problem.
Same pointing downhill in reverse etc.
It comes down to personal use/preference but the underlying issue is the car was sold as having it...when in-fact it didn't have it. If someone buys the car believing it to be present, then has no confidence in driving it due to its absense, then it is a big issue - unless the dealer are going to underwrite and accidents caused by not having it?
