Picking Up New Car

Still raining here in the West Highlands. Had thunder and lightning earlier so the car badly needs a wash after 750 miles in the last couple of days.
Most of my new cleaning goodies are here. So need to go to the local car shop and get new polish etc. will have to look at the detailing forum for recommendations.
After I get her looking nice again I will take some pictures.
Loved the drive back. The first half of the journey was slow A road and then motorway which was fine to get used to it a little bit and stop playing with all the buttons! The best bit of road on the first day and a bit I know well was the A66 after Scotch corner up to Penrith as this has a mix of single and dual carriageway which sweeps up,down and around. It was also dark by this point and I like driving at night but was getting very tired and needed to stop.
The second day I was up early but the weather was terrible and was just motorway all the way up to Stirling until I got the turnoff for Callender where I stopped for a bacon roll at the bakery cafe (good place to stop if you are passing on the LHS opposite the Dreadnought Hotel I think).
The roads are good here but being only my second day and the weather being very wet I was very respectful of the car. However saying that plenty of fun was had and if you have driven this road then you know again although it is single carriageway there are twisty sections and nice straights usually with a loch on one side (no police!) I would say I am driving so far within the cars limits at the moment. It feels so planted but I am being very alert for any sign of it breaking away but I think that is some way in the future for me :lol:
I went this way rather than Loch Lomand as there is a lot of roadworks on Loch Lomand at the moment and the road surface is terrible in areas.
Been to work today, had my dinner and now me and the wee man are going for a drive.

Oh one bad point! I have lost GPS signal. The dots (satellites) have disappeared on the TLHS. I have been told this is the ariel and I have a spare. Is this a common / easy repair? I haven't searched for a thread yet but I will.
Just missed Junglist on the way back as well on the Sunday which would have been nice but hope to meet a few of you in the future.

22 degrees in the tropical republic of hull today so was really pleased i got mine clean yesterday. I hope the weather clears up so you can get it shiny and let it loose 
Changing the gps antenna is really straight forward. Just take off the sun visors, pull down the headliner a few inches above the rear view mirror and disconnect the gold coupling (probably under some tape on the passenger side of centre) and slide the antenna off the mounting and replace it with your spare. It's easier if you sit backwards in the passenger seat and rest your back against the dashboard...its a 15 minute job at most. Leave the engine running for a while (or just go for a drive) as it picks up the signal. There is a hidden menu to check the gps status (go into the settings menu and hold the menu button down for 10 seconds)...good luck

I could have missed the GPS advice which raises another question. Is there a way to get a message (email) when there has been a post to a thread you have taken part in?
Anyway after having the car for 5 days and driven approx 800 miles it was badly needing a clean. No rain today for the first time in a week so got the cleaning utensils out for a 3 hour session. Rinse, snow, rinse, two buckets wash, poorboys black hole, poorboys polish and wax, auto glym glass polish, wheels done and autosol for the exhaust tips.
Quite pleased really as I often find the first wash is the worst where you pick up on all the little bits you missed when you bought it
Haven't done the inside or the rubbers yet but will do tomorrow I hope. I have included a picture of the interior as someone asked about it.
Last job is to get the wheels off to get the insides done and get a coating of wax on but don't know if this will happen this week as I am busy this weekend but soon.

I actually got some stuff for the tyres today and used it. Just cheap turtle wax stuff which is clear. It looks better in the real but a bit s**t compared to the normal high silicone stuff. Thought I would try something different.

Oops sorry don't get notifications so didn't see this one!
Was full of plans before I got her but at the moment I am just enjoying driving.
Was up to Inverness via Loch Ness yesterday with the wee man ( he will get more cinema trips now!)
Wanted CSL and a stubby but now I want to keep the wippy as I love looking in the side mirrors and seeing the haunches and the wippy.
CSL are still a want and I will get these for my Summer tyres next year and change the current wheels onto winter rubber after this Summer. Then I think CDV removal and gearbox, diff oil changes. Just had an engine oil change but may do this as well. Was going to use your choices for this Gareth.
That's it really. Got my ipod plumbed in and all is well with the world! The amount of grip is awesome although after a fortnight I still think I am miles away from seeing a limit!
Anyway no or little driving today as I catch up on all the jobs I missed yesterday :thumbsdown:
