Picking up my Z4 sDrive 23i Highline tomorrow *pics page 2*

Yes, it's another 'picking up...' thread, and I am afraid this one is just as boring as all the others :D

This is my first post on the Z4 forum, I've owned & driven a few beemers previous but had never set foot in the Z4. Always loved the E89 from the time I first saw one and after a cheeky search online, quick test drive & sleepless night I've accidentally bought one :o

Tomorrow afternoons the big day and I am pretty damn excited.

Must admit I was after a faster engine so that's my only trepidation about the one I've bought, but it felt brisk enough to have some fun on my test drive.

I guess the standard question should be 'anything I should be aware of?' so if there's anything pressing I'd love to know!

Done a lot of reading on this forum today and the atmosphere seems very friendly so looking forward to getting involved!

Here is the car in question:

Depending on what you have owned before the 2.5L engine is great.
We love ours and there is plenty of power and really smooth to boot.
Always wondered though and even after searching couldnt find the answer, what exactly is different on a highline model?

I get back from work at about 8:00pm so any time before then for the pics will be just great. Pics from the dealer's website don't count! :D

Oh - and welcome and enjoy :driving:

You must must must check the car for cracks in the 296 alloys, they are prone to them.

Tell them you want it on a ramp to see they are all ok

I picked up my 23i last week. I think the power available is fine, but I'm coming from a 120D...

Problems: the RFT and 19's are pretty hopeless on a really cold day. Drove to my mates and slightly frosty roads were bum-clenchingly slippy even at low (30mph) speeds...
Also, the clips on the boot panel broke after a few days. Seems it was previously repaired as there's some self tappers in there. I've ordered the nice bolts mentioned here to fix it properly.

I've not posted any pics here yet as I am meaning to get around to some proper tarty ones sometime :D here's a quick phone one after it was cleaned today though:

Oh damn, these 19's have me worried now! After some more reading on this site it seems it's a bit of a problem so best get it checked :?

I only discovered the difference on the highline model yesterday, not too much to sing and dance about its:

19" V-spoke self cracking alloys
Kanses Leather
Black high gloss kidney grill
Bluetooth
USB audio

I've got sports seats, heated seats, rain sensors and PDC as options - would have loved the upgraded stereo so hoping the standard isn't too pony!

JMB - very nice, believe me I don't like midnight 'mumsy' blue and the Z4 completely turned that on it's head, definitely one of the best colours that

Looks lovely!

Nice colour combination! Make sure you get out for a topless drive as soon as you can. Even in cooler weather it's very bracing!

As for the 19's - yes there does seem to be an issue with them cracking. Perhaps best to get it checked!

Enjoy your Z4! :driving:

I've had 2 E89's with the dreaded 296 19" alloys, never had a problem.

Just avoid the potholes!

Hi and welcome to the forum
Had a 2.3 before the present zed and there's plenty of fun to be had with that engine, your gonna love it :)

Well I am just in after 4 odd hours of driving.

Bloody hell. Not disappointed in the slightest.

The engine is beautiful, so smooth and tuneful and plenty of punch, sitting behind the wheel of it is an awesome place to be and when you get out and gaze upon that exterior - mmmm.

Roof down it sounds incredible and pulling over on a pitch dark country road, killing the ignition, gazing at the stars and witnessing a shoot star - what a moment.

Pics tomorrow

Those are 326 alloys not the 296 ones that have the cracking problem. Yours will be fine, I had them on my last car and again on my current one

Nice colour too

Welcome

I think me and monkey may have spotted you during our nocturnal activities!

Nice car, nice pic.

Looking forward to the "proper tarty" pics, but please also include some of the Zed as well! :D

I might be taking this a little too literally, but are you saying you drove past us?! lol! Was on the lookout for other Z's!

I'll try and get photos up soon (not that you lot haven't seen one before) but I am just about to be hit with the reality that being as I am a tradesmen my daily driver is a Vauxhall Combo van :|

Driving a van during the day will just make your Z hoons more enjoyable. Congrats, and welcome to the forum :driving:

Definitely agree with Bing.

I know I get bored easily & tend to change cars every 12 months.... but there is nothing in this class that has the blend of raw speed / looks / nice interior / driver toys as I get with the overall package of the 35is Z4.

So to combat the boredness setting in, I use another completely different car half the time (massive Merc S class diesel). Then every time I get in the Z4 it is like a rampant animal :)

Keep it fresh.

Matt

Haha, these are very very valid points gents, I must admit I have less apprehension driving the van - someone pulls out in front of me 'meh' where as the Z I would prefer no other cars to be on the road lol

Ok some pics, like I said it's not as if you guys haven't seen one before lol

A quick note... From my years on car forums I have learnt that most folk that own nice cars also happen to be professional photographers, well this isn't the case this time I am afraid - these are iPhone photo's (a sin I know) I will endeavour to bring out the camera this weekend, but no promises on the quality!

Sat outside the dealership on my way there:

Wine and choccies from the dealers (nice touch I thought lol)
