Picking up my z4 on Wednesday

Great car Alexy
And even better wheels ( not that I'm biased)
Our Zed is often through Pickering en route to see F-in-Law near Scarborough
One of my old Z3 mates also lives in Pickering (GRA100 - Silver 2.8)
I also recognise Kexgill in Atom's post
Seems we are getting quit a few members in this part of the world

It's a silver grey 3.0si 2007 with red leather seats we often go across that roundabout over the moors that is a stunning road to the coast :)

Oh dear the roof stopped working!

nothing other than the windows go down when I try to lower the roof. Took it to the bmw garage this morning and they couldn't find any faults when they plugged it into their computers so its going back in next Monday for a couple of days so they can fix it.

Probably be given a crappy mini as a courtesy car...

little disappointed considering Ive only had it 5 days!

At least you won't have to pay for it !!! The roof is a thing of beauty but could be a big headache as they get out of warranty  I researched having mine re-mapped and couldn't find any company that could show figures supporting having it done.

Sorry to hear that and dont blame you being cheesed off!

Hope it gets fixed shortly and hope the rain stays until you get it back working....... :headbang:

Finally getting my car back today after a whole week without it. Apparently one if the hydraulic forks was leaking with was causing the roof not to operate. The chap in the servicing department (BMW copper Malton) said is been a bit of a learning curve for them! Not sure how I feel about that. I appreciate they won't do to many z4's and folding roofs but even so...

Anyway I'm excited to get it back and start a few minor mods. First of which is the rear window tint on tuesday

Great news :))

It would be good if you could get some pics up off the tints as its something im considering. I bet its a right faff installing the back window!?

Will get some photos up on tues night. Going limo black but not sure it might be to dark. Might start a mini mod thread on my car as I've got a few bits in the pipeline. First up tints then smart top then black the kidney grilles and front splitter. After that I'm thinking of put LEDs in the angel eyes and number plate lights.

Anymore ideas?

I would 100% suggest dark smoke not limo. Its just one shade lighter. Iv had 6 cars tinted before, I had limo on the first and never again!

It sounds silly but it looks too dark!

I find with the aftermarket tints they emphasise and make the heating elements and boarder edges of the glass stand out. Even more so with Limo.

Its a nightmare to see out of and it looks an obvious after market job.

The dark smoke is more of a factory look and should blend with the white much nicer.

Sorry it's such a strong opinion of mine, however it is your car and your choice. I would deffinetly get a few oppinions on it see what other people think.

I suppose if your not happy, you can always peel it of and start again ;)

This is my current car with dark smoke tints.
Cant wait for the Zed though, two week on monday!! :))

Good call on the dark smoke
But the neighbours already ordered the tints and I don't have the heart to tell him to send it back! Will just have to live with it and change it at a later date if its to much.

Excellent job

Did you find it tricky getting behind the head rests and roll over hoops or straight forward?

My neighbour who's a mechanic did it. He doesn't do loads of tinting so might not be that great at it but he said he really struggled! Best way to do it is with the roof half open.
