Hi all, new to the forum.
Put the money down and purchasing the below Z4, when I go to the garage and have a good look around the car, I want hints and tips on what I should be looking out for, noises, signs, anything.

My car has the following spec:

2012 plate
M-sport
13k on the clock
White car with red leather
2l 20i
19inch alloys
Upgraded sound system
Parking sensors
Heated seats
Bluetooth
Xenon headlights and day runners

Thanks for your responses in advance

Check the roof opens and closes smoothly.

Some 19" wheels are prone to cracking but it would be hard to tell without taking the wheels off.

Welcome along. Couple of things from my experience:

Mine has red leather. Check the state of the seat bolsters and where the seatbelt rides over the seat back for wear / marking.

Mine has the so-called 'professional' audio which is pants and upgrading costs ££££££ so suggest you check that if it is something that bothers you.

service history

Service interval - is it due a service ?

Wheels and this is important, you need to drop these wheels and inspect them You may find issue with them and then find the warranty not covering them if they crack. 19' wheels with runflats crack very easily. Ive had two go so far. check to see if the tyres are runflats or not.

Yes it is run flats....a little worried about the cracked wheels now. Will check it out when I get to the garage,
Does this happen on all of them without fail?
BMW warrantee runs out in June 15 and the service is due June 16.

If I get down and look at the inside of the tyre hopefully i don't see anything.

Its 296 wheels on mine - and there have been loads of issues with these - check the internet and check the wheels - ask if they will cover the wheels under warranty an be aware that they will run the wheels in a machine if they crack to ensure that they are not bump damaged.

I junked the run flats on the rears and just covered a 1000 mile run here without issue and will be putting non run flats on the front in due course.

If the car has satnav see if they will update the maps for you. check that all the recalls have been completed. check the roof goes up and down properly.

The Z4 is a good car and I enjoy mine its the 23 sdrive - it sounds great with the roof down, which it is as often as I can get it down lol

You can DIY the sat nav update for £30. Takes about an hour and is really easy so don't worry too much if they won't do the update for free.

1. Rear Light Cluster water ingress - Check there is no water/condensation inside and that the chrome along the bottom edge hasn't tarnished.
2. Boot Water leaks - Thoroughly check the boot under the carpet around the battery for water ingress, not always obvious but can be expensive if excessive.

You need to have the wheels taken off and checked before you accept the car.

It's not just 296s but 19" 326Ms are also prone.
