I picked up my 2003 Black Z4 today :)

I was gutted this morning to see my VX220 drive away but i know it's gone to a good home :)

By the time I had left the sellers' house it was virtually pitch black so didnt get to get any pics, but will take some tomrorrow.

Compared to the (very) basic interior of my last car it feels like a space shutte! I cant wait to have a good play with all the goddies tomorrow!

The sat nav seems to be way outdated so ill check ebay for some maps, although i dont like how you just see the arrow rater than an overhead map view. Maybe you can change it but i've not really tried yet?

Unfortunatley the car only came with one key so will need to get another sorted asap, can these be bought from ebay and programmed at the dealer? :?

I have also noticed that on the Nav menu, i have the option to select the Telephone. Is this the same on all the z4's or is likeley to have some sort of phone kit fitted? There is also a phone manual in with the documents but again i don't know if this just comes in a standard pack?

I felt like a bit of a tit after trying the wipers out 15 minutes after driving off and the wiper blade fell off the arm, it looks like the plastic bit that holds it onto the arm has snapped, i'll pop to halfords tomorrow to get some new ones :)

Apart from that though i loved the drive home, and will post pics tomorrow

Cheers

Nick

Ahhh, now I think I know where a recognise your username from! Black VX, black speedlines? I was a brief member while I was researching a VX on vx220.org.uk...

I got up early this morning to pick up some new wipers and some other stuff, got back home and had a good mess with the car. It turns out that i do have the 'Bluetooth Phone Prep'. I am able to find the bluetooth on my mobile phone but it asks me for the code to pair it up which i do not have :(

The dealer i bought it from did not mention anything about bluetooth and there is no code included. I popped to Wolverhampton BMW and they quoted £30 to tell me the code. I have it booked in for Tuesday but they said since my phone is a Samsung G600 and my car is a 2003 that it probably wont work anyway

How big of a job is it to remove the boot carpet etc to get the code from the bluetooth module? :?

I've had quotes for £85 for another key, then they program it all in for free, and will bar any old keys setup to that car too that may have been issued... I'd try get them to throw in the bluetooth code for free with that work, as a goodwill gesture.
However, my local garage want £105 for the same service, so shop around a bit maybe?!

Also, those I rang all wanted me to take the V5, a utility bill, and a photo ID, to get a key done... makes sense, but a bugger if your passport ran out, and your drivers lisense is an old one (just getting both mine sorted now, so I can actually get a spare key :D )

Looks great, clean or not! Lovely alloys too.

The bluetooth code is probably 0000 - thats the default on most bluetooth devices (and is the code on the all the BMWs i've connected bluetooth to, if not try 1234!

If you can get the trim off in the boot the ULF (Bluetooth module) is there vertically on the firewall and I believe the bluetooth passkey is on the side of that

oh and nice photos :D

thanks for your help guys.

I managed to get the BT Code from the unit in the boot and now have it working :)

I was chuffed at i've saved myself £30 and the time of takng it into BMW!

It took me about 15 minutes in total to get the BT Code, i just removed the floor/battery cover in the boot, then undid two plastic screws from the rear wall lining of the boot, pulled the material back and unscrewed the three bolts holding the cage on. With the cage off you can see the code straight away. The hardest part of the whole job was replacing the two plastic screws that i took out because you have to hold the rear nut in place while you screw them in. Overall its a much easier job that i was expecting after reading other threads.

I was going for a full detail today but since the whole of my drive (as seen in the pics) is a mud bath after the snow; it seems a little pointless at the moment.

Im actally looking forward to giving it a good clean :D

awesome! you'll have so much fun with that! i have a black one as well and you should see it after you wash and wax it!! :D
