Have you actually sat in one?

I'm never going to slag the Z4 off, ever, as I loved mine a lot, but the interior in the Cayman is head and shoulders above the E89.

err ... don't think so :wkr: (sorry could not resist)

But on a serious note the car does look great, and I am assuming through the range the car gets more powerful .. plus when I looked at one the options started to push the price to dizzy heights !

but for me the base car is 275 bhp at 7400 rpm ( egg whisk ) and the torque 290Nm at 4500 - 6500 rpm ! the 35is can produce 450 Nm at 1500 rpm plus the over boost of 500Nm.

and the GTS .. 385 BHP at 7400 RPM and 420 Nm at 4750 - 6000 RPM again to many revs for me .... but would I but one if I had the chance .. maybe ? .. but the rear exhaust just reminds me of a arse hole :telloff:

Looked a great day out, thanks for sharing the piccies

I'm guessing the lady in the pic was your Porsche driving instructor and is smiling at your lousy driving :P

Indeed, it made feel Bing inadequate in the tunnels as he was surrounded by Porsche sports exhausts

Is it an S model? Whats the perf figures like?

it's lighter than the Z4 right?

Replacing the Z4 is so difficult :/ New gen Cayman is probably the modern equivalent and an upgrade.

No Jimmy it's not the S, the 0-60 is 5.4sec and top speed is 165mph. The S is £9k more expensive and is 4.8sec 0-60 and 175mph.
It's the handling and brakes that are amazing.

Lol egg whisk.

Have you even got your 35is out of running in mode yet?

To put the above argument to bed - i think if you're comparing an E89 35is with a Cayman for 'sportscar qualities' you're deluded - for BHP and Torque figures does not a sportscar make. (C63's exist to win that willy waving fight)

I've never heard of someone being put off by a high revving car before - how very un-petrolhead of you.

Meanwhile Lux - looks awesome. The Alcantara wheel is the winner for me. If i ever test a 991 i'm going to be testing the Cayman platform too i think.

I have said this before. You cannot compare the E89 to a Porsche Box/Cayman. It's just such a precise piece of machinery and it feels it when you drive it. I don't think I felt a single piece of switchgear which was cheap, or the way it drives around a corner hard, where you can't feel confident that the car is going to hold its own.

Until you've driven one, you can't begin to realise. I'm very jealous. I think you did well going for the Cayman and not the S as I think this model will become redundant soon enough when the 4 cylinder cars come out next year.

Thanks Jimmy

Starkers, you are 100% correct, and i didn't realise how well it handles and stops until I drove it at Silverstone last week, it's an amazing bit of kit and quick enough for me.

Something thats always puzzled me with the E89 is interior noise which I put solely down to the runflats, my Z3 is quite a bit quieter which you wouldn't think being much older.

Only just saw this thread, don't come here often.

Very nice Steve!

Thanks John
Long time no speak , how are you both?

We are just fine, busy as hell despite being retired. Don't know how I ever found the time to go to work :D

Missed you at the watermill last August, don't suppose you'll be eligible to attend next year!
