Picked it up

Collected my new Z4 yesterday. The details: '04 3.0 manual in dark grey (don't know the name), black leather with 17" 103s. 52k on the clock.

My original desired spec included red leather and 108s, but it was proving tough to find my 'perfect spec' so I dropped those two. I'm actually now glad I did forget about the red leather, I think it looks nice on first glance but would gradually do my head in after a while. I really wanted the 108s but I don't dislike the wheels I have, and they are really quite growing on me now. So all happy here.

It's not exactly loaded up with options but I'm not that bothered to be honest. It has everything I seem to need. Might look at getting a 6 disc changer but some sort of iPod connectivity would be absolutely ideal. If anyone has any suggestions that would work with the BMW 'Business' setup it'd be appreciated.

I'd decided on the Z4 as it seemed to do everything that I need; the 180 mile journey down to London from Notts on a Monday and back on Friday in comfort, and a bit of fun inbetween. I did consider (briefly) other options such as the Boxster, S2000 and Nissan 350Z but the beemer won out. It really does seem to be all things to all men.

Right, the engine. I LOVE it. Coming from an S2 Elise I was always longing for a nice sounding engine to go with the performance and the 3.0 provides it. Doesn't seem too bad on fuel either. It's also good to know I can use this car everyday with no issue, unlike the Elise which was only really suitable for the weekend, IMO.

I was going to ask what a 'stubby' is, but I've since found out  Anyone have a link to where I can get one?

Sorry, no pics as yet.

Charlie.

Hi and welcome. Look forward to seeing pics when you have some to post.

For stubby there is a thread on the go right now, http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34612&p=471983&hilit=which+stubby#p471983

Hi and welcome

:worthless:

Alloys are easy to change, so getting a set of 108's won't be hard.

welcome hurry up with the pics :poke:

Took a dodgy iPhone pic at work.

Had a great weekend with the car, the weather yesterday was perfect for putting the roof down. Went out and bought some cleaning stuff so gave it some attention last night.

Very pleased with it overall. The pic doesn't really do the car justice. For an 8 year old car the bodywork is in really good nick. The roads around where I live during the week are really bad, so the runflats made themselves apparent. Fairly new Bridgestones all round so I won't be chucking them away but not sure I'd go for the same next time around.

What's the legal status on driving a car with no spare or repair kit if you don't have runflats?

And thanks for the stubby link
