Hi all

New to this forum. I pick up my Z4 35iS in a few days from the dealer. However, already a bit worried about speed bumps etc. Is this car a problem and do I need to be especially careful? I have an Alfa Brera at the moment and have never had a problem but I'm starting to panic as my local area is speed bump city!

Any advice?

Thanks!
John

A local supermarket near me has the worst speed bumps i've ever seen.

iS takes them no problems with car. Just take your time.

Welcome, you should be fine, i have the adaptive suspension which lowers the 35i 10mm and have no problems, just follow the above advice, take them gently.
Look forward to seeing some pics when you collect your new toy :)

i think you shoudl be more concerned with potholes rather than speed bumps !

Hi all, picked the car up last week. Absolutely amazing! Commute to London for work but still manaaged to do 500 miles in my spare time.

Problem today though while I was driving in the countryside and hit a big pothole - huge bang from the front of the car. Pulled over and immediately did a visual check but nothing untoward. Car is not pulling or behaving oddly but concerned. Any advice?

If it's on 19's I'd check the inside edge of the rear alloys to make sure they're not cracked on the inner rim. Common fault on BMW 19" light alloy wheels.

Thanks Daffy. Yes, it's on 19's. I'll take a look in the morning and see if I can see anything. I'm guessing it may be quite difficult unless the car is raised up...I may just end up taking it to the dealer to see if they'll take a look for me.

I hit a bog pot hole in my Z4 and it completely buckled the back wheel, had to replace it. You couldn't see anything or notice any handling difference but when the car was in the air and you span the damaged wheel, it wobbled from side to side :(.
