Piano Black Dash Trim

Hi everyone,

Has anyone successfully repaired a Piano Black dash trim? Mine is completely split/broken, and there aren't any for sale online, BMW wants £500 for one, which I am not willing to spend on this.

I hate this sort of repair/restoration so I don't think I'm willing to DIY, so if anyone knows any company that may do it, or have one of these trims available, please do say.

How the hell did that happen!!! :!: :!: :!: :!:

Best thing I think would be to get somebody to wrap it for you. Lots of companies around that could do that in black gloss. My only concern is if you could see the edge of the original gloss crack through the wrap? In which case you'd have to a) fill it or b) strip the rest of the remaining gloss black off first.

Number5 did my car (you can see photos in my build tread) - he is advertising it on the forum https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=104283

It's not original piano black, but looks exactly the same :) He charged me £225 for all three panels but the main dash is much quicker to replace than centre console so maybe you could negotiate? Alternatively the originals do pop up on eBay but not often (maybe check breakers proactively).

I think some idiot decided to try removing the trim without removing the screws behind the vents/headunit. Because all corners around that area are cracked. Some of the piano black lacquer fell when I was cleaning the trim, so it looks even worse now.

Thanks for the info Tadekk! Hopefully I'll be able to buy the one synthedub has, otherwise I'll be speaking with Number5.
