i know, im hoping last years f1 success will make them stick around.....
the evora and exige seem like seriously good cars, if not it will be another tvr story where the cars stop depreciating and hover around the 40-50k mark like the sagaris has
 
I'm told they offered Tony Fernandez the chance to buy them along with the F1 rights but he had already done a deal with Caterham where he owns the whole shebang now.
 
Really hope they pull through, had a guided tour of the lotus f1 car and trailer last year at goodwood and all the engineers seemed really excited for what the next few years was going to bring, one guy told me to send in a cv so they must've been under the illusion they were safe for a few years....

Cracking looking car though, just no dealers close enough to warrant going to have a look. But auc evoras for 30k is immense, I've never seen one on the road either
 
Am I missing some thing here.

First we had the Elise. :)
Then some one put a roof on it and called it an Exige. 8)
Now some ones taken the roof off and it's called an Exige Roadster??? :?

Just wish I could fit in one. :cry:
 
Somehow the exige in the pic with that extended leather was more luxurious inside than our cars! Prob gonna fall apart but yeah if your above six foot you prob won't fit, and you'll look a bit odd in a tiny car
 
Wow I can buy a lotus tax free :| :o :o

Does tax free sales only work on new cars? Do we not pay tax on used cars?

would you go for an exige or an evora?

seems the evora to go for is the S and it would need to be to consider it a viable upgrade from the z4...

but im not sure if the better looking much faster but much harsher and uncompromising exige is a better or worse bet than the bigger, more comfortable and refined but potententially less interesting exige...

a lot of it seems colour specific, that blue and cinammon exige pic i posted in the flesh is absolutely incredible! but not sure if i could live with it everyday...

im only young which makes me think i shouldnt go for an evora due to the comfort and cruiseability, but seeing as i dont actually do trackdays its prob the one id go for....
 
I like the Evora but it's a larger car and I like smaller, agile ones. To me the Evora doesn't add anything to the Exige particularly as they now offer the roadster.

Having spent many years in the Army and able to but tax free whilst living in Germany I would jump at the chance of buying one. If you can buy one tax free you can sell it in a year's time and you will have lost nothing. Chances are you won't reach it 1st service so free motoring for a year!

am i right in thinking you can buy the cars tax free even if youre stationed in the uk? i never thought about the free motoring like you mentioned.....by the looks of it you can get an evora s for 50k which usually retails at about 60k if im not wrong?

would be best to go and see both and then decide which suited my needs more...the evora or exige, i wont be buying for a while though unfortunately... :thumbsdown:
 
Used to be able to buy a six month old car and ship it back, woots. Not sure if you still can.....

The only VAT on used cars is charged to the dealership and is the difference between the purchase price and selling price.If a dealer makes £1000 gross profit they pay VAT on that amount,no allowance is made for prep costs. :)
 
Well I sent off an online enquiry form to the tax free sales guys and they left me a voicemail saying to call them back and we can get the ball rolling on an exige....
Whey :) think I need to look into whether or not a lotus is the direction I want to go while I'm still young, or if its worth waiting for the rhd mustangs with a v8 engine..
Oh and 50k in the bank...

Unfortunately no; you can only buy tax free if you are stationed overseas, or have a posting order posting you overseas. Basically the car has to be exported and registered overseas.
