Photo Contest

I don't care either way.

Vote for my pic, it is the best one there. Centered, great composition blah blah blah. It is really good, nyuck, nyuck, nyuck.

BTW, my submission was taken by a point-n-shoot camera. Even without any photoshopping, the picture turned out.

Most cameras will come with editing software. We like to say pics are "photoshopped" because it's a term people recognize, although we may have edited it with another program.

I think that as long as 1)the member took the pic; 2)the photo editing is in moderation (eg. license plate blurred, b&w filtering); 3)the editing is also done by the member... then it's fair game.

Back in the old Z4um days, a lot of the submissions were PS'd. Nobody had any problems with it. I know that there WAS one winner who probably didn't take the pic, but won the contest. I think it's more important that the pic was taken by the member FIRST and foremost.

I agree... the pic MUST be taken by the member.

Some things people do with editing packages are pretty good, and I just feel we'd miss out if we ban it all together.

Some people with thousands of dollars worth of photographic kit... expensive lenses, external flashes, etc..etc... can get great results too, are we going to ban them because we don't have those facilities at our disposal too?

Just my 2-penneth :?

I have a Kodak Brownie....is that okay to use?

Actually thought it was a different kind of brownie while you were out taking pics of girls jeans (or lack thereof) :P

Glad to see this suggestion came around to something resembling a reasonable compromise.

At least for me I have to use some form of photo processing software in order to get a picture that can be shown here at all. My camera shoots in a 3504x2336 format and I always use what Canon calls a RAW format. It is a requirement that I do some form of photo editing in order to produce a jpeg format file small enough to display on a computer screen.

That said, just for the record the photo I submitted in the photo contest does meet the criteria outline above. The "effects" in the shot I submitted were produced by rapidly panning the camera as cars went by with a moderately low shutter speed (1/60-1/80s) to blur the background while capturing the car in passing. The tilt effect is achieved by rotating the camera roughly 20 degrees clockwise while panning the camera for the shot. I got one usable shot of the Z4 out of about 8 shots.

ok, I'm going to admit it. My pics were resized and cropped with whatever my son put on my computer.

I just can't do anything artistic, creative or otherwise useful with image editors.

Also, the white balance on my monitor just sucks bad.

I've had enough of this...

I'M VOTING FOR SP3CTRE!

BTW, where's YOUR submission, Sp3ccie Sp3c?

The general feeling on boards I have seen is that Admins can't enter comps

That's ok with me, and to be honest I don't have any pics at the moment that would compete with the standard we have this month anyway... :D

I'm too competitive and i'm just going to whine. I'll delete my entry and vote for the Muppet!

Yea, may as well not even bother. Mine looks like it was taken with a cheap kids' camera from Wal-Mart compared to those others  . I'll vote for Muppet too!

shucks you guys

The photo must be taken by the member and must have a Z4 in it unless it has a Z3 in it.. How about just that??

suits me .... thanks Enfield

I have a compact camera and don't know how to use photoshop, But others have posh gear and know how to use photoshop, if it is their own work then I am happy to look at shiney pics of Zeds

I think that everyone should be banned except Zee42's entries, and a cash prize of 1,000,000.00 should be awarded to me every month..It's only fair
