Phones ringtone through car

An easy mod for anyone wanting their phones ringtone to play through the car instead of the annoying BMW warble,
Using NCSExpert and Dummies, locate “inband_ringtone” in the media module, mine was CMEDIAR.05 and change it from nicht active to active.
 
Nice find, wasn't aware of that (not that anyone ever rings me anyway! :rofl: ). :thumbsup:
But just to note though, CMEDIAR is Combox only, not MULF, so only for those that have the Combox (music streaming).

Good point, I’m not really adept with the coding in NCSExpert, the inband_ringtone may be an option in some other module for those without the combox?
Perhaps you have time amongst your other projects to have a look?😁
 
Have you actually done it on yours?
I ask because from a quick look, so far all I can see is for NBT units and not our E Series CIC unit. Also people seem to be saying only works for iPhone, but I'm still looking :)

I have just been looking through the coding files for my modules with NCSDummy and it also lists the inband_ringtone in the CIC.C.16, now I don’t know if that’s because I tried the coding a few days earlier and it could have been that module I coded and it didn’t work until I coded the CMEDIAR as mine goes through the COMBOX

Well ill give it a try to see what happens and report back.
The only info i could find related mostly to NBT, but there was a guy posted on an old Facebook group offering this option, amongst loads of other stuff, for loads of E Series BMW's.
As for the iPhone thing, all the information on that was old, 10+ years. It seems nobody has bothered to post about this subject in a long time, apart from you 👍

UPDATE....
“inband_ringtone” coded to aktiv in both CIC (headunit) and MEDIA (Combox), no issues.

As I have an Android phone (Samsung to be precise) I can confirm that it doesn't work!! :rofl:Now it may well work for iPhones, but as I don't have one then I can't check that.

I’ll give this a whiz..I guess if you have two iPhones in the car registered you can use different ringtones for each?..🧐

I would assume it will, as the CIC is looking for the phone to give it the ringtone :thumbsup:
