Phone SIM advice

Just after a bit mobile phone advice please :)

I'm currently using an iPhone 5 on 02 pay monthly and fancied trying out a HTC One which is SIM free. Can I just pop the SIM from the iPhone into the HTC without any problems? I will need to get a sim adapter as the iPhone SIM is a Nano and the HTC a Micro. I've heard rightly or wrongly that if you do this 02 will take a dim view as they will know you have swapped the SIM into a different phone and remove web access? is this true? I'm guessing it breaches the contract terms by swapping the SIM? I don't want to buy a SIM free phone if this the case :?

Has anything else done this on 02?

Cheers,

Tim.

Yep, I used to be on o2 contract (now on Giff gaff which uses o2 network) and used to swap and change my sim into different phones all the time with no problem. I get bored of my phones quick!

Think you will struggle as the iPhone 5 has a micro SIM where as the HTC just has a Mini SIM or whatever you call them.

Cheers Winny, just what I wanted to hear :) I'm just wandering if its true though that 02 know you have put the SIM into another phone which is SIM free/unlocked, this is from what I've gleamed off the 02 forum but there seemed to be some uncertainty

I think the iPhone 5 uses a Nano SIM and the HTC a Micro, you just use a SIM adapter which is basically different sized trays,

O2 used to give away sim holders that take a nano and fits a micro tray ( in fact my Nano sim pack came with one when I switched to an iPhone5 ( unlocked ) but stayed with O2
if no longer offered than Amazon is your best bet
You are quite free to use the sim anywhere you like in any phone

Cheers wegras, come to think of it will check my iPhone box as I seem remember the Sim came with the adapter from 02.

I quite fancy a change from an iPhone.

Tim, I don't believe the grass is greener on the other side.

:D

I really love the iPhone :) but I've had them for years and reading up on the HTC it appears to offer more, really just fancy a change from Apple now and again :)

The other option if you dont want an adaptor... Go into the o2 store and ask for a micro sim... They do it there and then, within the hour the sim data in transferred.

Also i have a iphone 5 and imo the htc one has a far superior screen! Just think ios is better.

How much is the phone sim free? Is it new? Could wait till ios7 and then decide to be a traitor!!!!

Cheers for the replies :)

Kevin, the HTC is £470 new off Amazon :o but obviously I'm on a fixed on the iPhone at the mo, well for another 12 months at least.

Thing I love about Apple and IOS is its simple and intuitive to me, whereas Android phones in the past have come across as user unfriendly. However I really want to try one and see if it will pull me away from Apple permanently. The Apples software is looking and feeling dated now.

Bit of an update, I bought a sim free HTC One from Amazon, didn't think much of it until I received the phone and thought the box seemed odd i.e. no shrink wrap. Unboxed it and set it up but when it came to doing software updates it gave a message to say updates could not be done as it had detected non standard software. Thought I would go back on Amazon and read some reviews on the phone and transpires alot of customers have received phones which have been tampered with. On checking the box you could see the original seals had been broken and new seals placed over the top. The impression I got on Amazon was the phone was brand new, plainly not. Anyways its going back and have ordered a phone from HTC. Surprised at Amazon. :x
