Phone set up help required

Has anyone got some instructions of how to set up the phone please?
I've managed to pair my phone (HTC) and upload the phone book
After that I'm struggling, I've looked in all the handbooks and searched around on here to no avail

I can make calls if I find the number on my phone first - then use the 'Last 8' option to find again
Is there a way to insert presets?
When searching the phone book, I can only see the first few entries for a particular letter, how do you get to the rest?
There is also a voice command button on the steering wheel - what are the options here?
Do you need to programme something - I'm sure at some point it responded with 'Jackie' - a phone was previously paired with the same name

Not sure if it alters anything but I don't have the Sat nav screen
It is the 'Professional' radio

many thanks

I think that you've posted in the wrong section and would be better off asking in the E85 part of the forum rather than in this part which is for E89s.

It is an E89
Just picked it up - not had chance to alter my Sig yet

Sorry - don't they all have iDrive and a screen? All I did was pair my phone and then selected phone from the menu and all my contacts were there.
Did you get a handbook with the car as that should help?

Hi - it is a 2.0l Sdrive but no screen - several hand books but no mention whatsoever :(
my phone has paired ok and contacts show on the radio display when you select 'phone', but that's about as far as I got

Unsure if your zed is brand new or just new to you, but you might try deleting all previously paired phones an then RE pair yours ,

New - I wish :D
No it's a 2012

yep deleted the old phones and paired mine - my contacts are showing on the radio display
Just reading on the internet that I may be missing a manual with a phone box on the front

Idrive is a very expensive option and therefore can be a bit rare. Can't help the OP in this instance, best to try and source the non Idrive manual to figure out phone usage, it's a bit basic without Idrive though, I do know that.

IDrive was an optional extra until MY15 models. I believe the version installed as standard now it's not the 'bells and whistles' one and can be upgraded but otherwise before then you had to pay for the media package at £2065 (2014 price) to get the iDrive.

If you want to look through the phone book you will need to use the knob on the right hand side nearest you, not the left hand side that should scroll through the phone book, you can usually use the knob to job through either all the names or use it to select the first letter of the names, press the knob like you do to switch on the radio and then scroll from there.

If you want to preset voice dial, you will need to record the name and numbers into the system. Something you don't have to do with the iDrive voice command system.

There is unfortunately not a favourites list, just the last 8 numbers you've called. you should have got a communication/telephone handbook with your manual and service booklet but that may just have iDrive in it only, if so you would be best looking at a manual from an earlier, non Z car.

thanks Angie4m - sorted
The last 8 called will be sufficient for me 99% of the time for immediate family etc
I've found a manual on the internet for voice control so will try that as well later

Thanks for all the advice guys

Same setup as mine but i dont use it much so hope this is correct. Will check this later but from memory you use the right hand radio knob to scroll to the the first letter of your contacts then push the end of the knob. This should bring up all the contacts under that letter. Use the knob again to scroll to the contact you want then press the knob again. HTH

I have the same and it works well. Apparently it should be able to stream music but I cant get it to work and at one point the google maps instructions on my iPhone came through my speakers but has stopped, which is annoying as it was really useful. Perhaps its something simple I have missed, grateful for any tips
