Phone Compatability

I am looking for a new phone and have tried to use the BMW page without any joy -- It wont let me put in a VIN No

Maybe this post should have been in "The Lounge" but it is an attempt to sort a phone to suit the E89 :)
 
My S4 is fine. My S3 was a bit hit and miss but I think that was the software I ran on it interfering. I can't stream audio but I believe this is due to the car being older.

Its the one with iDrive and sat nav - Business? The phone a Samsung Galaxy links up Bluetooth fine but it drops the link on occasions - It may be the phone or the car but I am due another handset on upgrade and want to make sure I get the one that is on the list.

I cant get into BMW's selector on my PC to verify a selected phone.
 
If it's of any relevance to you we use iPhones 4 and 4s without any problem in our Zed.
Haven't tried the iPhone 5 yet as the contract renewal isn't due until later in the year ;)
 
If you are using Internet Explorer, try changing to Compatibility mode under tools.

Thanks for that info, I'm a big step forward. I can now input my vin no. but it doesn't want to accept it! (it is the correct number) This is my crusade now!
 
I reckon I will (reluctantly) have to move away from Samsung for my next phone - It works fine in my Audi and Disco but the Bluetooth link drops in the Z4 The dealer tells me that the car's system checks out perfectly.
The loaned me a 3Series GT to do a link test and YES it also failed in that BMW as well.
I paired my wife's Iphone 3 in my Zed and the link remained - So its an iPhone next time. I would happily go with the Samsung product again but I cant risk being stuck with a two year contract on a phone that wont link properly. :(
