HI. What phone brackets are you guys using in your E85's ?? I have an iPhone 8 and nowhere to store it whilst driving. I've seen them that clip into the face vent. Are they any good ? Don't really want to drill holes in the trim to install one. Any ideas would be greatly received.

Take a look here https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/BMW/Z4.htm. I've been using one for a while & they're pretty good to be honest.
That looks like you have to drill holes in the trim to fit it ? :?

No it doesn't at all. I went for the dash mounted one & you can see how it fits looking at the photos on this page https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/BMW/Z4/2004/653655.htm. Here's the base bracket fitted:

You then need to buy the holder that fits your iPhone

I have a reasonably-priced CD-slot mount. TBH I've never used the CD player (not the single slot on the dash of the changer in the centre storage) so works perfect for me. I remember someone one here saying they used one then their CD player broke and were linking the two together, but I can't confirm nor deny.

That looks great. Where do I get the holder from for my iPhone ?

Add the bracket to your basket then there's a link on the page where you can enter your phone type. These are for the standard iPhone 8:

You can pick from a non charging option right through to hardwired.

I use one of these, simple, cheap & does the https://m.lightinthebox.com/p/car-air-outlet-holder-mobile-phone-accessories-car-phone-holder-mobile-phone-supporter-magnetic-phone-mount-car-phone-bracket_p7742275.html?currency=GBP&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&sku=1_45&country_code=gb&utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=cpc&adword_mt=&adword_ct=436244329570&adword_kw=&adword_pos=&adword_pl=&adword_net=u&adword_tar=&adw_src_id=3516490533_10094217773_98154483101_pla-617483277337&gclid=CjwKCAjw5cL2BRASEiwAENqAPm2UaA5K9ug0Tmi5ha0X4yDsasE11WSr22ugWqCqRIhCo5HTrmW-MxoCB8IQAvD_BwE

Bought one of these in the end. The Brodit set up was too expensive for me. :o
Might regret it in the long run but the reviews seem to stack up. Fingers crossed.

Me - yup, the owner of the company reckons not compatible with nav head units, which sounds too generic to be correct.

Either way, it broke the loading mech on my E85 nav unit - people with the standard one report success however.

Yeah I tried a CD slot mount one but I found with the weight of the phone it wobbled around far too much. Maybe mine was just not a very good one. The Brodit is rock solid but yes they are quite expensive. Hope yours works out ok for you  .

Magnetic button type holder that just slots on to the air vent for me. Holds the phone fine, non obtrusive and you can just pull it off when you don't want it there. Long as your phone has a case to put the other magnet in, cheap and easy.

Agreed - very popular option, I use the 'Yosh' mounts, which you can buy in a twin pack - useful for the two car scenario.

My phone case is too thick for the magnet to be hidden inside it, but I just have the metal disc bit stuck on the outside of the phone case - perfectly secure and doesn't look too horrible.

I love the simplicity of these & bought one for each car. Then I realised that the wireless charging of my phone wouldn't work with the metal disc fitted :headbang: . I tend to charge my phone overnight on a wireless charger pad, it's such a simple option & didn't want the hassle of removing the case each night. I'll have to dig the magnetic holders out & move them on.

These are really good and don't look ridiculous when your phone is not attached like the big brackets do... Clips into air vents! YOSH on eBay

Do you have to keep removing the phone from the case every time :? you put it on the bracket ?

No, You have a steel disc that adheres to either the back of your phone or to the back of the case. All depends on the thickness of the case as the mount relies on a magnet to hold the phone in place.

I've used this for a few years. Really handy.

The CD slot holder arrived today but I'm not impressed with it. The weight of the phone seems to be pulling the holder out of the CD slot and is not that sturdy. (Going Back) Think I'll try the Yosh holder that Penelope recommended. Seen the reviews on Amazon and they are all good. Not expensive either. Thanks all for your advice. The Brodit holder that Oldgitdave recommended looks sturdy but seems expensive for what it is. you get two Yosh mounts if purchased on Ebay so I will put one in my E85 and the other in my F31. Happy days :driving:
