Phone audio options?

Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve been here - and back in the day I even did a little how-to ashtray dock thread - but I’m confused. There seem to be multiple options for streaming music to the oem system; from Bluetooth attachment to CD changer/prep, to Grom systems, Parrot, AUX inputs and everything in between.

I want good quality streaming or aux-in music (and phone if possible), from my android device, that’s not got wires everywhere and simple to install. My car has CD prep apparently, but doesn’t have the aux from factory.

Recommendations/how-to’s greatly appreciated. I don’t think I could live with radio and single CD alone

Hey, I have installed "BlueMusic", for £35 this is great for good quality music streaming to a OEM stereo.
(No calls can be taken through it)

There are How To in the forums - very simply (10minute install)
It basically confuses your OEM stereo that your phone is actually a CD player. So you can "skip tracks" using the OEM buttons etc.

What I brought:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0773MX7BG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks. Going to deconstruct my boot carpet at some point this week to find the connectors. Feels like this is the front runner solution at the moment.

You can kinda do it without taking the carpet out with a bit of a struggle. (just take out all the obvious bits) then stick you hand into the middle for the looms plug n play. (I cant find the tutorial I used sorry :( )

There is the later version of the bluemusic dongle which allows phone calls as well as streaming. I swapped mine a few months ago. It works fine with my Samsung S10. The only extra cable is for the microphone which can be fed through / alongside the tunnel to somewhere convenient on dash or head lining etc. Called Bluespeak I think from the same supplier as the bluemusic. If you search on Bluespeak, I mentioned the supplier in another thread. I'll dig out the info later if needed.

Just to add though there is talk in the news / govt. etc. that touching a phone at all will be illegal before too long. I believe this is to get around the loopholes that people say they are using it for satnav, music etc. It will have to be stop and switch off or voice activation only I presume.

Interesting thread, and one of many recommending this install. One question:

So when a call comes in, does the sound of call still get routed via the device to the stereo thinking it’s still playing a CD, or does the phone call sound just get handled by the phone speaker?

 Happy to thread through and place the mic somewhere out of the way. Funnily enough I managed to pair my Samsung S20 to my car today through the 2006 Bluetooth tech of the nav unit. Seems happy enough but if I do this then I may need to forget the pairing or figure out a way of having both active (dongle for music, car for phone).

I use an echo auto in my daily drive. It connects by AUX or Bluetooth and is currently £30 on amazon. Microphones on it are very good and alexa even hears you with music full blast

I use the bluetooth CD Auto changer emulator for music. When in this mode I also get Sat nav instructions over the speakers and plays Spotify perfectly. I use the highest Audio format and download to my phone for the best music experience.

For phone calls I fitted a second hand parrot CK3000. Works like a charm. If I press the green button it instigates Siri so I can use voice commands. This also works for selecting play lists on Spotify. I paid £25 for the kit which included the SOT cable to connect without any cutting of wires.

BlueBus. Adds music streaming, can optionally replace your TCU and provide Bluetooth phone calls as well.

That looks like a very seamless OEM type solution. Keeping the phone integrated with music streaming is quite important to me

Herewith a link to the various posts generated from my original installation. It was easier when I upgraded to the Bluespeak as I knew where the dongle was....

Epic journey to find the cable! Thanks for sending through. I'll be trying that soon and may do a little photo-how-to.

Just tried to get under and behind the bulkhead carpet, but it’s tight under there and you’re working pretty blind. Roughly where (left, centre or right) are the cables usually located?

Tried going in behind the drivers seat too. I have a large filling the cubby areas on my coupe, so not a lot of space. Found a tiny plug off of another loom interesting but not two and it’s super tight/sharp trying to get my massive hands in there!

Tried again, this time with more purpose
Sorted. Just awaiting my ordered Bluetooth unit from Amazon.

Does anyone have experience of fitting the BlueMusic to a DSP set up? I'm sure I've read a couple of threads whereby there's issues?

According to MDECODER my Z has 'S677 - HiFi System Professional DSP' - the stereo has 3 options when it gets to the DSP part of the menu...

Your phone pauses the music (as though it was conntected to any bluetooth speaker" The "CD" is paused and you take the call on the phone itself.

How did you get on with this after mate?
I am currently looking at options for bluetooth dongle to the car for calls/spotify etc.
