Phillips / Novsight LED Bulbs, anyone done this? From a bit of research they perform very well in projector units, and on the z4 with headlight washers and level its even better / safer.

Just concerned of room / heat behind the bulb?

If anyone has anymore info on this it would be great to hear

Thanks

be aware, fitting LED bulbs in the place of halogens is now an MOT fail...

That sucks, however my Mrs just got her car MOT'd by a reputable testing station and they passed it with aftermarket projector headlights with HID kit fitted. :) Pretty sure you should be fine, specially on a Friday afternoon ;) I mean, a tester is not going to start ripping out wheel arch covers and trying to find an HID kit inside a unit or fitted around the headlight in typical scenarios & the police don't bat an eye lid now days as there is so many variations of headlights i.e HID or LED unless your a lighting expert you cant really tell if something is aftermarket or OEM unless you are one of those chavs that fit 8K HID kit in a reflector housing

Thanks for the replies. Guessing no one has done this in a z4 then. Will need to investigate more.

Alternatively what’s people’s best halogen bulb experience? I’ve used Osram Nightbreaker before and been impressed

I used a set in my previous E85 zed and they were excellent. No problems with heat, much the same as halogens but the brightness and projected length was a massive improvement.

I still have them, if you are interested PM me.

I was looking at installing the Phillips Ultinon kit, as it 's the only one that is supposed to give a proper beam pattern. I haven't managed to find any info on whether it will fit in the light housing though.

Ok that's good to know thanks.

And as far as some other comments on the law, the law just needs to catch up. The requirement for xenons was headlight washers which we have, and the projector housing ensures theres no dazzle. Just my view!

I'm looking at Novsight or Philips but thank you!

I made a similar thread a few weeks ago. https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=127041

Some decent info in there, have a read through. I think these will work, I am going to buy a pair just haven't got around to it yet;
