Wee M is poorly again! "AGAIN" annoyingly developed a noise rather like the manifold or downpipe hitting off something. gave it a bit of stick off a junction and the engine note suddenly changed! :( oops! So i'm stumpted with a 318D courtesy car...Isn't actually not too bad, bit of a barge tho!

Lets hope it's nothing too terminal, so far my BMW experience has not been trouble free!!
 
Shame.. are you entirely confident you've not knocked it or something?

Be interesting to hear what it turns out to be.
 
Engine mount loose/given up the ghost which then allowed the exhaust manifold to rip itself loose with the engine torque?

Have heard of loose engine mounts on some zeds :(

Un-BELIEVEABLE!! How bloody stupid, clearly haven't driven it, i told them the engine was fine, it's something mechanical...Unless they can fix it with a computer there at wit's end!

NOT a happy boy!

Thats exactly what i said to the recovery guy. had it before on another car. Worries me that i'm thinkin of the solutions and there not.

Sixspeed has had all his mounts replaced as some/all had failed.
 
As above. Snapped the engine mount! ( I should really be a BMW mechanic!) get her back later today!
 
Make sure they check all the exhaust/manifolds out too, might have damaged it if you were unlucky :(

The change in noise makes me think that something must have let go and would be best they sort it out now than have it crop up later.
 
Running well, no rattles But alas i'm going home via the twisties tonite so i'll give it some stick! :D
 
Seems the engine mounts on these are made of cheese. Mine were shot to pieces. Might see if there's an uprated option as no doubt they'll go again. I know there are uprated mounts available on the E46 M3s...
 
^ Will be interested to hear if there is anything. BUT i've had Aftermarket poly mounts and i hated them!! Made the car shake like hell!
 
Sorry to here that Ali, glad all is well again, you've been a bit unlucky.

MY last car, the Rx8 went through engine mounts too (Not mine) but read about plenty others. :thumbsdown:
 
Does anyone know of any horror stories regarding the lotus exige s? yes I understand used ones have all had the tits ragged off them by one elderly lady driver but then so have most of the z4's for sale :rofl:

As for mechanics thesedays if the computer dosent tell them what the problem is they have no clue, in my sitution its no use going to a regular mechanic cos they dont have a computer to tell them what went wrong with it, I've been unfortunate enough to deal with mercedes after they crashed my car, I even told them to watch the front end cos its a bit low, it only went in for a ruddy service for god sake!
