Phew! What a few months....

I've been a little out of the loop on the forum of late, but after a well deserved week in Corfu, I'm back. :)

The water pump packed up on the Z, as well as a drop link. Sadly, after the work to replace these, I still have an annoying clunk from the front. :-(

My sister was involved in a car accident that rendered her 11 plate Ka a write off, and she suffered bruised ribs, burns from the airbags and cuts to various parts from the smashed windscreen. It's all been a little hectic!

I need two new rear tyres on the Z now, and my question to you all is whether or not to stick with the run flats? I know it's a widely debated topic, but, if anyone can remember the summarised version from all the discussions previously. I'd be most grateful.

Hope everyone is well. :)

Welcome back!

Could have bought the weather back from corfu with you!

Sorry to hear about your sister, hope she is recovering well.

Tyres - I kept my run flats (but switched to michelins) until the last change when all 4 needed doing and switched to non-runflats - michelins.

There was a similar improvement in ride and noise from both switches (contis to Mich, run to non-run). Sometimes when I see cars on side of road trying to change wheels/wait for AA I do think I should have stuck with run-flats.

Money is normally biggest influence, although if sticking with brand such a michelin its not so much of a saving.

Micheldever tyres normally excellent price if you want to drive that far (farham pro-tyre same company but often more expensive IIRC), http://www.farehamtyres.co.uk also been good in the past.

I switched from Continental RFs to Falken 452s nRFs and find the ride better now BUT , I feel it squirming on long fast corners as if the sidewalls aren't stiff enough.

Thanks DrNick!

You'll have to take me for a spin in yours. I do like the firmness of run flats, and the fact there is little give in the walls. But I kinda fancy it being a little softer as well as cheaper!

I'm sticking with RF at the moment but considering switching in the future.
The advice I've had is switching to an XL load tyre helps with the sidewall stiffness issue you describe.

I'm not sure whether the Falken 452's are XL or not :|

Sure! As long as you dont tell all on here how dirty the zed is! Revising for an exam and moving jobs next week so life a little more hectic even than usual - but if would help happy to at least try and arrange a spin!

Good to meet you this evening

And no reporting to the forum police about the state of my paintwork....

Ditto! There was nothing wrong with your paintwork. It was gleaming like it rolled out of the showroom! ;-)
