Quite chuffed with myself so thought I would post a good news (for me) story.
So I'm sat at work and the wife calls, now recently she called regularly regarding how much she's been spending on Xmas pressies so I was kind of expecting bad news.
She says a guy was flashing his lights when following her in her car, when she pulled over he said her brake lights were stuck on. He was an off duty police officer and advised her to drive to the nearest garage as it was an offence.
So she panicked, took it to the mini garage, where they said it would be £88 to diagnose and from the sound of the fault would need a new "something" that would be £300+. I was on the other end praying she hadn't agreed or even worse had it done.
I told her to drive home and I googled the symptoms. Loads of results with the same fault. First result was the mini forum and a thread with lots of people with the same fault and a how to fix it.
So armed with a 49pence diode from maplins I set about removing trim, pulling back carpet and following the wiring loom to where this diode should be. The cause is apparantely water and when I felt damp I hoped success was close.
The old diode fell apart and 5 minutes later the new one was in and all was working as it should.
What a result, massive saving, 49p outlay!!!
