Where does the computer screen show your current speed. I've searched for 4 years and only ever managed to find a real-time speed in m/s.

Are you sure you're car (that you've only had since November) has been delimited - as 190mph is utter b********

Custard or it didn't happen :poke:

I've had my M since April 2012, if you click on computer it brings up a fuel consumption menu and the limiter thing is located in this screen it's hard to explain lol I will make a video, but you can set it to different speeds the max is 186 and when you go past the speed you've set it at a bleeper sounds.

As I said earlier in the thread, the M-drivers package lifts the limiter to 171mph (Coupe only). It does not remove the limiter altogether.

From that I suspect the car would achieve a similar V-Max to a Cayman S at circa 175mph.

I understand the speed limit bleep menu, but just because you can set it at 186mph doesn't mean the car will do it. But your post seemed to imply that you'd see an indicated 186mph on the computer screen whilst driving.

My Metro had a 120mph speed, but it would only do 90mph, with wind & hill assistance.

It's the 190mph vmax I'm calling custard on :P

hold on lewis.... i dont see anyone calling you a bullshitter??? is their any need to go all aggressive tubacca on us???

It will be a video in kmh, not physically possible for 343 horses and 1400kg to reach 190mph on planet earth with atmospheric pressure, well not with the tyres touching Tarmac anyway!!

If I saw 180mph indicated on a Z4MC running standard power, I'd think a boosted one with another 150bhp on tap must be close to breaking 200?

I'll agree about the space though!
the key words here are an indicted 180, in reality that was closer to 172 at that speed, my car runs nearly 200hp more and i can't see it cracking a genuine 195mph... nor do i have any inclination of trying!!! 190mph in a stock z4m is imo... not viable.

Hmmm... I'd reckon you'd be closer than you think. M6s are well known for being able to crack 200mph when de-restricted. They're 500bhp, and a damn sight heavier than a Z4MC. If you're running the full-fat 550hp ESS kit, then I don't see any reason not to expect your car to hit the "magic 200". I'm sure there are reports of VT2 E46s reaching those speeds too...

I don't think a standard Z4M would hit 195 though, but not sure where that was claimed in this thread. Certainly wasn't by me anyway :P

Managed an speedo indicated 165ish today (on a private road  ).
Have done this on many occasions and to be honest dont think i could get a whole lot more out, maybe given an extra couple of miles and a wee tale wind 170-175 but not a cat in hells chance of 180 plus  .

Another thing on a slightly different note, why do these threads always seem to end up with someone spitting the dummy and getting all aggresive?.Think these people need to chill out a bit,its getting kind of
BORING   :headbang:

I wasn't getting aggressive at all lol I just want to prove my point at what I saw on my speedo, I set my limit to the 186 max and it bleeped when I reached it, I'm no liar and I'm just trying to say my point, if people think I'm lying well fine by them but I just want to prove my point :)

personally i wouldn't bother..... if your happy with your statement, why put your life a risk to prove to a group of men on the internet?? f**k it.... i dont think your a liar, just don't think its capable, until i seea GPS readout in a safe arena.... i wont believe!!

The limiter takes its reading from the inaccurate speedo no? Or were you getting the beep from a GPS

Either way, what Beedub said, don't risk your life for it and for gods sake keep it off the road. If you get clocked at that speed you'll lose your liberty as well as your license

My X3 has the same satnav as my Z4MC. I checked on the way to work this morning and my X3 also shows 186mph as the highest speed limiter, despite it having a top speed of 130.

I can't imagine maxing the zed, even 155 limited would make me twitch, but that comes with age.

I can only assume most on here do not ride motorbikes as the M feels fine at any speed compared to that :fuelfire:

I find rapid acceleration more fun than outright speed itself to be honest and having been pretty fast in the M (as mentioned) anything above 1.6 leptons requires a serious amount of private road/stupidity (delete as appropriate). To get an actual or indicated 1.8 leptons plus will require a downhill strech, a few miles of road and wind in the right direction in my opinion.

On my bike having mirrors in, the way your situated on the bike, tyre pressures, conditions, etc seem to a big impact on your ability to edge a few more indicated MPH out i suspect this is amplified in a car i.e. windows down, tyre pressures, roof up or down, etc.

One thing is for sure and that is the M has more than enough power for public roads :D

Apparently a z4 M will do 176mph,when de-restricted,so may be possible to see 180plus as speedo would be out by around 8-10mph at this speed??

Anyway, not really anywr u can safely get up to these speeds/without going to a disused airstrip that is :driving:
