PH discussion thread of Z4MC...

I have seen over 170mph (speedo indicated) in my Z4M...And i think it had a bit more left in it...lol..

ive only had mine to 145ish :-( it piles on speed above 100mph at an alarming rate.... i reckon theirs a genuine 190mph in it if i had the balls and space :-) id love to do it fully boosted with methanol being sprayed for added pant browning factor.

have you recorded a video of your acceleration? of the speedo i mean

id love to see a compasrion of stock acceleration vs a vt2 side by side...

ill get some vids this year, i really want to push the video clips and will do :-) thats a promise!! Its significantly quicker as you can imagine....

second gear lightups are fun!!, this year i promise to do some better documenting, last year was dead as many of you know due to my son, this year, he's older and now i have a proper support network in place :-)

I've seen 150 ish but the front went light and worried me somewhat. The e46 m3 pulled through 150 and wanted to keep going.

Now limited to a sensible 124 with the roof on and theoretical 170+ with it folded away in the boot - not sure I'll be trying for that roofless though.

were flames coming out of tht car? :o

They run quite rich top end so do make lots of blue flames.... i have a reflective material loving cut to protect the bumper and lowered the tail pipes slightly...

i had a very cool video of mine exiting fradly hairpin sliding out with all 4 tailpipes lit up!! That was a gem of an image.... unfortunatly i lost all my pics when you laptop was stolen.

ouch!! so basically slightly less bang for a lot less buck by going with the ///m?
even though uve prob spent the same amount on modding it as my entire car is worth....
love the seats though, and the exhaust, and the alloys...

think u ll ever go back to tvr? sagaris or tuscan 2?
I absolutely loved my TVR & I will always lust after them the really get under your skin...but they are also a big financial & emotional headache I had a rebuild on mine at 19k miles owned it for six years & honestly had nothing but trouble, its just nice to use a performance car that you can rely on, i would love another but wont take the risk...it's just a shame not much sounds as good as a TVR :driving:

My z4MR has been deristricted, the limiter goes to 186 mph on the computer screen. I have done close to 190 mph and it was still pulling

Where does the computer screen show your current speed. I've searched for 4 years and only ever managed to find a real-time speed in m/s.

Are you sure you're car (that you've only had since November) has been delimited - as 190mph is utter b********

Custard or it didn't happen :poke:

in the last year and half z4ms seem to be brought then sold on after a few months??? really don't understand why???

hmmmm not to sure about the 190mph on a stock car however..... i reckon my car MAY JUST scrape that with ALOT of space to do the run....

If I saw 180mph indicated on a Z4MC running standard power, I'd think a boosted one with another 150bhp on tap must be close to breaking 200?

I'll agree about the space though!

After reading that thread I realised that I would never own an M :(
I will never be able to justify the premium over a 3.0
too tight :)

the key words here are an indicted 180, in reality that was closer to 172 at that speed, my car runs nearly 200hp more and i can't see it cracking a genuine 195mph... nor do i have any inclination of trying!!! 190mph in a stock z4m is imo... not viable.

If god had meant us to go that fast evolution would have given us a self igniting fart power boost gland. I think there are you tube video attempts but none of them seem to work very well.

Reading this with some amusement, maximum velocity is governed by a number of factors, these are Power, Mass and Friction, I would guess that as Beedub stated a 170 mph is probably reasonable for a stock Z4M.

550 bhp and a mass of 1,500 gets you to within 200 mph, given an aerodynamically sympathetic car to give downforce and a slippery shape to reduce drag

The aerodynamic lift on a Z4M with OEM suspension and geometry would make the steering somewhat "iffy" at very high speeds.

It's iffy light at 150mph, never mind 190mph :P

As I've always said, I find front end lift under acceleration at ordinary roads speeds with OEM suspension to be bad enough. It reminds me of the time I drove my daughter to Uni with the car packed to the hilt and overloaded, with the rear suspension totally compressed and the front wheels hardly touching the road. :o

When it had OEM suspension, mine was light at the front end at very at very high speed and would wander a little. Since fitting Eibachs I've seen an indicated 175 with no front end instability
