Petrol smell

Hi all i am new to the Z4 scene and have very recently bought a 3.0i a silly question i know but does anyone else’s smell rich at times?

Only when starting from cold. Otherwise never. I have a 2005 3.0i.

Mine never smells rich. I do get a smell of neat petrol very occasionally, usually after a fast corner. An old mot advisory was on fuel cap seal so I need to look at that.

If I start my E86 (which is a 3.0Si) in the garage from cold, move the car outside, and then go back in I can smell fuel. It's a faint smell, so as you say "running rich". I only notice it rarely but by coincidence it happened recently when I moved the Z so I could access another vehicle and when I went back the smell was apparent. It doesn't worry me in the slightest - you wouldn't know if you weren't either behind the car in a somewhat enclosed space when it's cold or you did what I just described.

Same with wifey's. Lives under a carport and that seems to trap a rich smell when I first fire it up. As others say, soon disappears and only notice when it starts up.
