Petrol filler cap rubber cord

Does anyone know if I can buy the cord that attaches the filler cap to the little hole in the recess? Mine has worn and the little knob bit has lost one of its lugs. Ive checked the online parts catalogue and cant trace the part. I'm starting to think its going to be a case of replacing the filler cap. Anyone help?

I think it is part of the filler cap,see below (part 9):

Could you not use a bit of heatshrink. Place it over the end and slide it through the gap with fairy liquid and wait for it to cool. Should be a nice fit, mine is still working.

I replaced mine recently. Was part of the fuel cap and cost me about £16 from my local stealer.
