I jus got a 2.2 z4....the car has 19in m6 alloys on it....

I put £20 in the tank, the range was on 19 miles n went up to 156.....ive done 52 miles n the range is now on 83....

So is 100 miles on £20 about right???? I was gettin about 180 miles of £20 with my 118d

I have been very economically and not fast at all...

Im jus trying to establish weather this is normal or if i hav a problem...

Any advice would be much appreciated

Firstly, you 118D was a diesel and you'd have expected about 50mpg out of it, so £20 of diesel (4-ish gallons) should get you 180-200 miles.

Your Z4 will only give you 35mpg, so those same 4 gallons (of petrol rather than diesel of course) will only get you about 140 miles.

19" replicas usually won't help your economy either - unless the weight & diameter/circumference is the same as the standard wheels. If you've got wider rubber on you'll also be getting extra drag from the tyres, along with less pressure per square inch on wet roads (increases the chance of aquaplaning).

For the record i return around 300 miles from a £40 investment in my 2.5si (18" jobbies)

I get about 300 miles to a tank ish on my 3.0i

Do brim to brim vs distance travelled on it for a proper gauge on mpg over several tanks.

Anywhere from 26-35mpg is probably about right for a 2.2i depending on how you drive etc.

275 miles and my reserve light comes on, give or take. Trip computer is usually on 29mpg... thats with a good mix of everything.

Amazingly frugal all said and done.

I'm averaging around 26-28mpg. Mostly Highway, but some some stop and go traffic, and its kinda spirited driving. 03 3.0i.

This is great, my old Volvo got 17-19 mpg average... 22 driving in grandma mode on highway. So I'll take 26mpg any day.

Hell my Z4 gets better than my bike, I got a 98 Honda Superhawk, with a 4gallon tank, and I get gas every 110-120miles. so like 25mpg, less if I'm on it...and lets face it, its a sport bike, you dont buy them for their comfortable ride.

If its purely urban driving you are doing then it seems about right, as the book figure states 22mpg for this. I do a mixture of urban, and out of town driving returning an average mpg of between late 20's and low 30's.

Getting 38mpg on my 2.0i. :driving: But then again, I don't have the same power as you 3.0 litre folk.

(BTW - we are in danger of confusing US and UK mpg here ... the gallon sizes are different !)

Sorry but seriously I cannot believe some people are so thick!

'I had a 118d and now have a 2.2i petrol..... :headbang:

What MPG does the computer say? Also the 2.2 prob isnt great as you must have to rev it a bit more to lug the car along, thus making MPG worse.

Seriously I really do worry about some of these posts.

Getting 22mpg according to trip computer on the '55 plate 3.0 running stock 18" wheels - mind you I do a lot of short journeys which kills the economy.

Best figure yet 24mpg according to the computer - hope I can hit 30 on a motorway run... !?

I always use Shell Optimax - anyone notice any difference to economy/performance ?
