I am trying to send a personal message to another member and the message is just sitting in the outbox it won’t actually send can anybody give me any pointers please

They sit in the outbox until read by the recipient.

Useful to know, it was confusing me as well.

Works well, once you understand it. Means you know when it has been delivered. If you don't then has does indeed happen on a regular basis, then those concerned tend to ask and find out. So the system works.

No harm in enquiring to the boss, if it could be changed, to simply return a read receipt though.
