Performance from 17 to 16 inch wheels?

Have you compared the ride and performance coming from 17 to 16 inch rims?

How do they handle and also wondering if weight wise with the lower mass of the 16 inch rim, the extra tyre weight still makes for lighter wheel & tyres all round?
 
I think the change in performance from more tyre wall is negligible in the reall world, slightly comfier ride and a little more tyre movement in a hard corner
Mass wise depends on the wheel for weight, but again you probably couldn't tell unless you were doing lap times
