Perfecting the art of getting in and out of a Z4

wrong wrong wrong, the best way i have found is to open door, stand with yr back facing the aperture, use you right hand to guard the bolster as you sit gently down into the seat raising your feet over the sill as you perform a little swivel into position, following so far... ? Now ... using your forefinger on your left hand,... SWITCH OFF DSC !!!!

What a pathetic bunch - talking about Z4's here not the Caterham 7. Drop in to your local Nissan dealer in the morning, they do something called the Micra which could be the solution.

I'm ok with it really. My poor dad has a job getting in and out and falls back into the seat often. My mum hasn't even had a ride in my Zed in 18 months I've owned it. She had a hip replacement last year and is scared of dislocating it. Imagine!

I just roll in and out the car as I am tall ....

Here's my picture example below

Smile on my face is because I love my Z4 that much

Ah the swivel manoeuvre, see that's ok, but, if you're a bloke a) you look like a girl and b) swivel... on leather? OCD kicks in, Nappa leather plus my fat ass swivelling on the spot = leather crinkles... No. My leather (with the exception of the arm rest thanks to some recent cleaning disaster) is nearly as good as day one.

And if your wearing jeans could stain the leather!

So I actually thought about this today and went thru it bit by bit...door wiiiide open, left foot deep into the footwell, bend deep at the waist, bum in, head down, sit, and finally swing in right foot. Problems arise if you don't have the door at its widest or the steering wheel isn't set high enough.
Getting out is door wide again, right foot out, right elbow out and hard against the door jam, head down bent at the waist, push out with left foot braced against the transmission tunnel, push up and out with right elbow and stand on right foot withdrawing left foot from footwell.
Simples

Yep - when getting out the braced right elbow against the rear door surround/rear wing works well - use this to propel yourself out the door - essential you have your right foot tucked under you/as far under the car as possible - that way you can keep your balance and look at least a little elegant on leaving.

Getting in, there are many options - best is to lower the roof first then step in and slide down into the seat using steering wheel as steadier - feels very Dukes of Hazard and purposeful.

My wife always slides the seat back before leaving the Zed - makes getting in a little easier too.

:driving:

You should see me trying to get out after reversing my car into the smallest garage in the world, the door is barely open! Plus I'm the wrong side of 50!!

Instead of the best member photo of the month we should have most smooth entrance and exit of a z4 members car video contest

My grandmother has found a simple way of getting in she turns away from the car slowly sits down then turns her leg one after the other into the footwell and turns the rest of her body inside the car she's managed to reduce her time to get in by 20 seconds! She's working on beating her current record of 1:10

Please, let me demonstrate...
