:thumbsdown: part of the reason I’m getting a dash cam fitted as it has the collision/movement sensor and would catch something like this. My insurance is very low on the Zed, under £160 but compulsory excess is £600 I think giving a total excess of £750. Can’t reduce the excess. As soon as I gave them the reg no. the first thing the girl said was that vehicle carries a compulsory excess of £600. Dash cam only £149 fitted so if something unfortunate like that happed it’d pay for itself multiple times over.

Too right!!
A Sainsburys driver, driving an Articulated lorry went into the back of my Merc, he and his Insurance company denied it was his fault. My on board camera with GPS and collision sensor captured it all.
I sent a CD to my Insurance company using the camera manufacturers online recording which had location , speed etc etc details.
Won the case, I had legal rep on the Insurance, they got my excess back for me.
But it did not prevent my Premium from going up on renewal irrespective of who was to blame.. :-x :-|

I feel for you mate, it's soul destroying and can make you fall out of love with your car when it gets damaged. Worse when you have to pay for repairs yourself.

I have to park on the road, my MR2 is orange and my S2000 is yellow. They've had a gas canister smashed through the rear window and glass everywhere in the convertible top, keyed down several quarters, towing eye cover stolen, retractable aerial snapped off, and rubbish dumped on the bonnet. It's one of the reasons when I bought my Z I went for the dark blue so it's hopefully not such a tw@t magnet.

When I had my Celica my neighbour's wife reversed into it and damaged the wing but denied everything. I lived on a cul-de-sac at the time, parked opposite my neighbour's drive and their blue paint was in the dent but they still had the cheek to stay quiet!

We're just not allowed nice things.
