Pentlands loop - May 3rd

Andrew, do we have a route yet, and a list of who can make it??

I now have a dilemma....last game of the season for the footy has been moved from Saturday 2nd to Sunday the 3rd, and haven't missed a game all season/ all for tv company benefits!!
Now need to look at times etc :headbang:

Hopefully still make it :driving:

Edit....good to make this now :D

I went last year Paul, I set off at 4.30am and enjoyed the drive down. Think Russ just beat me to it on opening if I recall?

Its cracking day, enough interest to keep you there until 4pm and I'm used to driving those distances daily now with my job.

Looks like I'll miss out on this Pentlands' hoon:(

Well I'm impressed with that. know Duxford well and always visiting (Steph's folks have a farm in the Fens).Nice one!

:driving:

Right, scouted the rest today and will get the route out during the week. Rough timetable will be 0930 for 1000 start M8 J3, 1100 coffee stop, 1300 or 1330 lunch and finish up between 3 and 4 at Dobbies/Melville just off the Edinburgh bypass.

I'll need to get lunch booked, so please confirm attendance/passengers if you haven't already, and if anyone else fancies joining us let me know.

No +1 for me andrew..... If this changes will let you know ASAP but can't see why it should at the moment.

Paul, the set off time won't be a problem for me but you may need to knock loudly when u have to wake me up.

Route finalised and sent out, if anyone else fancies coming along I'm sure that can be accommodated, looking forward to it :D.

Good looking route Andrew :driving: and an excellent choice of venue stop for lunch and somewhere we have eaten at a number of times :D

Just spent half the day cleaning and preparing the Zed for Sunday - looks like it's going to be filthy by the time we get up there - why do we bother . . . .

Though I always feel it drives better when clean

:driving:

Andrew - we will be there - sorry for delay in replying. We will be happy to bring up the rear !

Thanks for coming everyone, hope you all enjoyed the day too and get home safely. A bit dreich all day but not enough to spoil things, good to see you all again - going to be odd next weekend without a meet :(

I'm sure photos will follow and the next few runs are in the works already :driving:

:worthless:

Had a great time with excellent company today & a good pace despite the conditions. Seen some lovely roads that we've never been on & a great lunch spot ! Sorry we had to peel off a little early !

Hope to catch you all again (in the wrong car ) not many pics today bit will try to post later.

Bit of a sad day tomorrow as my zed will be gone by lunchtime - I don't mind saying I might regret it.

We do need to organise another Scottish run sometime so let's keep the thoughts & momentum up. Always happy to help.

oh and very well done to Andrew organising his first run. I'm pretty sure it was my fault some of us got split up a little !

Had a great time today dispite the bad weather conditions, was good to meet everyone again. A big thanks to Andrew for organising it and as Jack has mentioned we will have to get another run organised soon, I have a few ideas for a run, its just having time for me to organise it being the only issue, but we shall see.

I didn't take many photos this time, and to top it off a few didn't turn out right :headbang:

We got our roof down. . . .we got our roof down :P

On the way home the sky cleared, we had road works that brought us to a temporary halt, so the roof came down and then the sun came out for the last part of our journey  Just 10 hours in it - sod's law eh!

Never mind - as Jax said, a canny pace despite the conditions and some excellent roads once the grey people carriers went home. I was convinced at one point that it was the same car each time

Nice one Andrew - first of many I hope and a very sociable meet up as well - plenty of chat - good stops and a top lunch.

Been through our photos and will post some soon. Thanks again Andrew

:driving:

Was a good meet, and the weather didn't spoil it as we did have some good blasts as said.
Looking forward to getting the next one sorted....which is already being discussed for mid-June? :D

Was great to catchup with everyone, and thanks to Andrew for organising the day and routes

See u all again soon :driving:

p.s, like your new wheels jax/even if its another of the (Scottish) regulars deserting the fold, and for a p-car, lol.
Just kidding, its a cracking looking car indeed mate :D

It was an early start for the Newcastle contingent (paulgs1000, Cherrym and Chezsherman) – we all met up on the A68 at 7.15am. Lots of standing water on the way up led to a firm grip needed on the steering wheel. :o
Satnavs brought us to the meeting point with no problems and plenty of time before the start to meet up with AndrewP, Craig3.2, Swiftly and JaxZ4. A refuel, coffee, the briefing and handing out of extensive route sheets (impressive Andrew) and we were off in the persistent rain. :driving:

A stop for an interesting mixture of Empire biscuits and Victoria Sponge led to the admonishment of Swiftly, not once but twice (well he did try and sit down and then asked for a missing Victoria cake  ). We departed the convivial host of The Robertson's Arms and headed back out into the rain.

Then everyone got lost despite the detailed route sheet . . . eventually we all met up again.

We stopped at a lovely village for an excellent lunch but unfortunately Steph had lost our spare camera battery on another 'hoon' (If you're ever at Tan Hill Inn car park please keep a look out) so we didn't get any shots of the excellent last section in some beautiful surroundings. :(

Despite the weather, some memorable sections and great fun so thanks again Andrew (and everyone else)

Here's to our next Scottish 'hoon'.

:driving:
