Peculiar Noise

Can you be more specific with the location of the hole. Had brakes in bits today and there's no foreign objects.

Next port of call is to take bell housing / gearbox off and investigate a rougue loose bolt or other object that might be forced against clutch / flywheel under braking.

Ha Ha, that'll be the iPhone App that did that. Kept saying it couldnt upload, but clearly it was.

Anyway, back to the question in hand . . . . .

I'm at last getting somewhere with this problem.

I took out clutch slave cylinder at the weekend and used an endoscope to look for any loose parts. Although none were seen, there is alot of witness marks and impact damage on the clutch cover / pressure plate.

Stripping down over the weekend to fit new clutch, so will cure the problem, but until I find the offending item I still don't know what's cone off where.

Will post photos showing damage etc after weekend.

The noise is cured. It was one of the dowels from the flywheel that locates the clutch pressure plate that had come loose.

Well the noise has been fixed.

One of the locating dowels fro the clutch pressure plate from the flywheel came loose, and has been loose in the bell housing, and under braking or hard cornering is coming into contact with the clutch cover / pressure plate and making th noise.

All sorted by stripping the gearbox out, re fixing the dowel, new clutch, pressure palte and bearing, and all back together.

If only BMW had listened four months ago, I wouldn't have had to do this myself.

Oh well, all sorted, and a pleasure to drive once again.
