Has anyone ever had this code thrown by the car? (as read by Peake tool)

I know what a DME is, but what is the EWS? (emissions?)
The car has, on two occasions, failed to start on the first try. Then it was fine.
(no, I haven't gone to the dealer with it yet. Still waiting for the 16,000 mile service to roll up)
