Peak District in the M?

Hello. This summer I've got a stag do in the Peak District. I live in South London so it's a bit of a trek, getting out of the city then a long motorway slog. Some mates are also driving up (although not from London - about 70 miles west), so I can't decide whether to travel up with them or take the ///MR on my own for a blast.

So the question is, are there some good roads up in the Peak District to make it worth the slog, and cost, of taking up the ///MR and if so any recommendations (we're staying in the southern part, near the Hartlington Nether Quarter according to Google maps)?

Obviously the main focus will be boozing so limited time to really make the most of the roads!

Peak district is a great area, but at the end of the day it's a national park and not a race track. As such there are lots of slow cars doodling around. A515 is a good fast sweeping road right from Asbboure to Buxton.

Generally thge South is softer country and the North more open and barren and that's got some great roads. My favourite is the 5004 Buxton the Whalley Bridge. Now little traffic as a bypass takes it away.

Frankly I enjoy the Peak to cruise in. Narrow roads, twisty turny and fantastic scenery.

As an aside if the main focus is boozing then perhaps no car is the best option...

Thanks for that - I assure you I won't be mixing the booze and the driving, I was implying I was unlikely to have a huge amount of time to travel too far from where I'm staying, opportunities to drive are only likely to be the Friday morning before it all kicks off and Sunday afternoon before making the long schlep home...
