PDC wire loom connectors, faulty

ok so this weekend the //M rear bumper was going to sprayers so decided to have a quick trial run with the PDC sensors.

plugged the 4 2nd hand sensors in and only number 2 worked :( so i unplugged them all and plugged them all in number 2 and they all worked fine (could hear the clicking) so i tried to take the other 3 connectors apart and found they had all corroded and basically knackered.

so whats best for me, can i order 3(or 4 to be safe) new connectors and just wire the new 1`s in, or do i need a whole new wire loom to be wired in?

You can re terminate the wires. You should be able to get the pins at your dealer or the like of Farnell or RS Components. I would suggest getting the correct crimping tool though.

These look very similar type of pin
 
If its not something your confident to try . find a local auto electrician explain what you've done an found, sensors work but connectors corroded, I would be shocked if there was more than an hours labour to make some good connections
 
Trouble is I don't think I can just re-crimp the metal parts only as some of the metal parts were so bad they broke off and are stuck inside the plastic casing so need the new plastic casing for the connector and the metal pins to crimp on aswell.

From what I remember the genuine BMW connectors were cheaper than that and I'm sure you'll be able to get both parts. Well worth going to the dealer but crimping them is fiddly, I couldn't find the tool anywhere.
 
While you're there you might as well also get some genuine LED number plate lights and connectors for those too ;)

You should be able to get those out. They are held in by a little tab which can be pressed down with a screwdriver and at them same time pushed in the direction to push them out.
 
Does the sensor have any cable on its side or is does the connector you show plug straight in the back of the sensor.
Never looked. But if both have cable ,do away with connectors an solder back together

I already do have OEM LED number plate bulbs? (Modified from 1 series) ??

I don't think I can, it's so corroded and full of crap it's stuck in there (and there's no room to manoeuvre or get any leverage)

Would be so much easier if I could just buy the crimp ends and 4 new plastic connectors. I'm at BMW tomorrow collecting my rear spring rubber bump stops and front bumper brackets so will ask them while I'm there, was just hoping I'd get lucky and somebody on here might have known where I could get some was all :)
 
How about calling a breakers or forum member breaking their Zed (which there is at least 1) and asking for the loom, or as much as they can chop out. Just splice it into yours and jobs done.

thats next plan, going to BMW this afternoon and if i cant get just the plastic blocks ill just have to buy a 2nd hand loom or just get them to cut the blocks off and ill reconnect them my end :) :thumbsup:
 
went to BMW last night and they couldnt help me, spent 5 mins going through the computers and lists of part numbers etc and no luck, looks like they come as a loom only deal :(

looks like ill have to start hitting up the breakers yards
 
I really can't believe that. If the exact connectors aren't available all it looks like you need are 3 wire and waterproof seeing as you'll be chopping them all off anyway. Think how easy the number plate LEDs were - it's just like that but with crimping connectors to the wire.

nope... :/

he tried all the pdc sensor coloured part codes in "their" database as sometimes it lists all the associated parts (in this case the PDC sensors connect to the wire loom connectors) but after 5 mins or so trying all diff codes and different ways he said hes afraid he cant help, i was watching him do it so he wasnt having me on, maybe just incompetent at his job tho lol

will message the girl i speak to their and try that code u gave me.... thanks again and will report back with my findings in case anybody else ever needs this :D

I found it pretty quick... vote for incompetence ;)

I believe that's the connector (61132359997) - so you can chop off the ends of your wire, repair and plug into the sensors. Are the sensor plugs corroded too?
