PDC Should it beep when reversed engaged and not near objects?

My 2nd Z4 always beeped once when I selected reverse, then beeped in the usual way as I got nearer to things behind.

Thankfully a forum member managed to code that first annoying beep out with Carly!

Does it need to be coded out? I thought you could just disconnect one of the connectors from the sounder under the steering wheel.

I don’t think the op is describing a 1 sec single beep as the car is put into reverse which then stops until he approaches an object. So it’s a fault.

You can just unplug this from the speaker in the footwell.

IIRC...If you drop the trim panel, you'll see the speaker and it has 1 big white plug, 1 small white plug, and 1 small black plug. One of these is for that annoying "PONG PONG PONG" sound for the sensor.

I know this because mine was disconnected since owning the car and I got curious. Immediately disconnected it soon after :D

Pretty sure the gong does the warning chimes as well, you could disconnect the module behind the right hand side trim in the boot if you want to keep the gong.

I'm lost now! Think I'll just start parking nose in

Or even better, let wifey put her own car away at night
