PDC problem

The PDC in my 2010 e89 does not ALWAYS come on automatically when I select reverse gear. If I operate the PDC switch manually, everything is fine. Any ideas as to the possible cause?

do the reverse lights come on when the PDC isn’t working? I don’t know how it gets its signal presumably from the gearbox or gear selector if it’s an automatic.

Thank you for that……I will check it out.
It is an automatic and presumably the reversing lights and the PDC both get their signals from the gear selector.
