PDC Issues

Hopefully the answer should be on here!
A lorry damaged my rear bumpewr recently that hit one of the PDC sensors and crimped the wiring (he was reversing in the company car park).
The sensor has been replaced as has the loom yet the garage cannot get the system to work.
Working OK before.
How can they check the other 3 sensors. I told them about running the car selecting reverse and someone feel each sensor for vibration.
They said cant hear anything but there agin the engine is noisy! Is it hear or feel; can you feel the vibration?
Issue is that BMW say it may be the ECU in the boot which I dont think it is. Why should it fail now?
I think it is one of the remaining 3 sensors not replaced.
The one sensor cost £110!!!
Any help I could give the garage greatly recieved; clearly I want just the sensors replaced!!

You don't need to start the car to listen to the sensors ...

And you can't feel the sensor, you can only hear it click if it is working.

I'd check the other sensors, i'm sure the BMW system will only work if all 4 sensors are working.

The "system" will not work, that is correct, but the individual sensors that function will still click.

As PVR said, engine off, select reverse and listen for clicking.

I hate to state the bleeding obvious, but as the wires were crimped it's not fused something or left a bad earth somewhere* has it?

Just to add, I am aware the loom has been replaced, but you never know what's happened either end.

If you plug the car into any diagnostic software such as Carsoft it tells you exaclty which sensor is giving the problem.

Sorted it that way on my X5 when all were clicking but the system still not working correctly.

BTW if just one sensor is 'out' then you shoudl get one long continuous bleep when you engage reverse.

Do you plug Carsoft into the OBD socket or disconnect the PDC module in the boot and interrogate from there?
Im presuming Carsoft is common to most garages?

ICarsoft run from a laptop and plugs into the OBD II port (near the drivers shin) It then interogates the modules and throws up an error telling you which sensor is not working. On my X5 it displayed as 'front centre right', so it's readable, not a code.

Most garages should have that or one of the many others like Autologic.
