PCP / PCH experiences

Thought I'd ask other members' experiences of the PCP/PCH route. Explicitly if they've had any problems when handing it back. I'm very much thinking of going down this route, my fear being after the two or three years is up someone inspecting the car for any tiny blemishes they can find to try and get some fines/charges added.

Cheers

I did this but bought the car at the end of contract

I'd not do it again simply on how much it cost, I'd buy used in future

I'm looking at fully maintained, so the man maths of being able to drive a £30k car out of the factory virtually risk free is quite enticing. No tax, no mot, no repairs/servicing/maintenance. Improved fuel consumption. No need to worry about lifts to garages or time without a car either.

Every leasing company will have a fair wear and tear policy which you can ask to see when you apply for a quote.
This gives what imperfections are and aren't acceptable.
An example is here
I never had a problem with my returns but they were company cars, so I just got it all sorted on exes beforehand.
(with the exception of the Toyota that had an engine failure 3 weeks before it went back  )

Thanks Talksthetorque, very useful. I presume/hop the engine fail was warranty covered!

Err.......hmmmm......no. Car had done 82k so was out of warranty.
It was a Corolla T-sport and had broken a valve at 61k (Toyota paid half
Lease co.paid half - they never found the broken off bit of valve) then at 80k it was stolen and recovered after being used in a ram raid on an off licence( as the getaway car not the ram)
2k later it spun the main bearings, but with all the stuff before,( plus the fact a senior manager had told me to cancel a service as it clashed with an important meeting) I said it must be oil starvation due to the bit of valve that they never recovered getting lost in an oilway and my arse was well and truly Kevlar covered
Company footed the bill.... I was given a four year old smoked in Passat S. Tdi as punishment
