Paypal

Not true though, I fund my PayPal via my credit card and took PayPal on when they messed me about with a non delivery (short version of story - supplier did not deliver, no money in their PayPal account so PayPal "agreed" with me but did not offer me money as the supplier did not have money, end of case as far as they were concerned).

I then took it to the credit card money and they just pulled the money from PayPal, so still had protection in the end from my CC so the story is not actually correct in that respect.
 
I caution though with pay pal and their own security. I closed my account with them due to their system being compromised. One morning I woke up a tad earlier than normal before going to work and checked my email. I had an email from pay pal stating your payment has been sent. I was thinking I didn't order anything lately. It turned out that someone hacked into pay pal and was helping themselves to my account sending themselves money auto paying from my cc account on file with paypal. I called them immediately and they locked the transaction crediting me back on it. When I get home from work the same thing happened again so this time i not only called pay pal but my bank with the cc. The entire investigation proceeds took over a month to resolve before I could close down my pay pal account.

Thing that sucks now with other forums and life on the net people think twice about purchasing something from me with garage clean outs or what not because of not having a pay pal account to transfer to and are more leery of paying old school check/cert. Funds. If it's not a local pick up. Just another caution to the wind for what it's worth
 
I used Paypal quite a bit to sell off some camera gear with no problems, later on I bought black kidney grills for the zed.... wrong ones were sent. I finally sorted it out directly with the seller as Paypal systems were basically stupid. No flexibility etc.. anyway the grills were shite but that had nothing to do with Paypal :D I bought BMW grills from the dealer and I just pulled all the financial info from Paypal , deleted the card and deleted the bank account. They can have the $3.52 that is left in the account :rofl:

Now I'll drag my paranoid carcass into my backyard bombshelter and hide from Facebook.....kidding..well not really, Facebook, Twitter and Paypal ...let's not give the world all our secrets shall we... :thumbsdown:
 
As far as I'm concerned its no different to any other payment method on the net. I've had a couple of experiences where sites are clearly being hacked and as a result I've had my credit card whacked within seconds of making a direct transaction....the first time for £300 worth of baby clothes (my youngest kid is 17!) and the most interesting (when my wife spotted it) was £175 to LaSenza Online! Sadly, because the bank makes you sign a form before they refund the money, you never get to know who/where the cnuts are that did it. :thumbsdown:

Paypal is a tad more secure and they do rectify problems when asked. My only complaint is the benefit of the doubt they give eBay buyers sometimes, but you can't have it both ways can you.... :driving:
