Received the email below to my personal email account today, have not done what it suggests, have forwarded it to PayPal fraud office then deleted it, but was just discussing it with STMBO and was thinking how many more gullible people than I would do as it says and log in to the spoof PayPal help centre to log a dispute thus giving away their login details to these low life criminal scum.

I assume that thousands of these emails get sent out, raking in thousands of pounds to the criminal scum

I use email transfer now....I deleted Paypal..... too many scams , poor or no security.

Knowing that, I am a Nigerian Princess , my bank accounts are in excess of 2.1billion , if you send me money to unlock these accts I will split it with you 50/50. :poke:

Who the hell falls for this sh*t ???
 
I received the exact same email a few month ago!

I bet there is many people that have fallen for this scam too :( makes me sick that people do this kind of thing!!
 
Usually I get those from US sources, like purchases from Amazon.com which I can't buy from anyway.
 
I keep thinking of starting a business to screen all this crap for old age pensioners , not just spam but the crooked contractors , the door to door's and the telemarketers. When my old man got beyond it I had to go through his papers.... I found a few things he got scammed on, and my mother in law, she hooked up for a few things that could have been stopped, some got stopped later on but if the old folks are the least bit lucid they are also stubborn :headbang:

Scammers prey on the old..... if your folks are getting to that point , look out for it. :x

Checking back on this one I can only go back so far and its seems to have come from a server in Finland, but who knows

Like wise makes me really mad, most of us work hard for what we have and these criminal scum sit on their arses and make money from scamming gullible people
 
I haven't received this particular spam email scam but I am :poke: sick, really sick of getting spam texts and sometimes calls (I will not answer it if not recognise phone number or is number withheld but they leave automated voicemails too nowadays, scoundrels). I can't afford not to answer calls with withheld number as am looking for work and could be a recruiter.
 
I get loads, golden rule is never phone the number, click the link etc etc, always goto company website and log in that way, or phone the published number etc etc, simple but effective.
 
Like many others, I've had the Paypal ones and on average receive about 2 a week from other sources, two in fact received from Barclays today, others have been from Nationwide, Natwest etc.

I used always to forward them to the relevant section of the bank, but never once have I ever received acknowledgement (or a word of thanks) from the bank concerned so now I just delete them. Often wondered though whether the bank or BS bother to follow them up. I am an AOP but hopefully still compis mentis. Shoot the b***ards.
 
I really like the ones that tell me my account at **^&% bank has been compromised and I should send my info .... because I don't have any accounts at that bank :rofl:
 
I get spam paypal all the time, had one today! Just spam em.... ignore em.... Delete em... No clicky No spammy :rofl:

I'm amazed that people still click this type of email..... :censored:

Agree, I am amazed people don't have a look at the email address to start with, which is a dead giveaway usually, and then click links to go to account sign in screens or open attachments when they're told there's an issue with their account... Despite all the financial institutions (the ones I deal with) being very clear they will never communicate with their customers in this manner if there's a problem.

Let's face it though, there are a lot of people in the world who shouldn't even be given control of a TV remote...

Like you on a number of occasions I’ve forwarded the spam onto my bank or other banks, and with this one I forwarded it onto PayPal but also like you I’ve often wondered whether they actually do anything about it, I suspect probably not

I have also often wondered how many people, very briefly read the email, log onto their account as it suggests before realising it’s a scam or even without realising it’s a scam until their bank account gets emptied.

I get ones from banks too, sometimes I am a customer, other times I am not. I wish the bank would stop sending promotional emails, I would prefer paper post for something important because I tend to ignore the email, assuming it is spam (isn't a current account so wouldn't expect updates associated with that type of account). And as for the spam email from the other 'banks', it is annoying but I guess ignore/delete is the best way. Don't let it bother you too much.
 
My wife is adamant that she is not stupid enough to get taken in by any of these stupid scams ....... Then one day I heard her giving her credit card details out to some african sounding gentleman who cold called telling her that the council owed her money ........ She even got angry with me for suggesting it could be a scam .... Lol
Day later she got a call about strange activity on her credit card .... :D

Its not just old folks ....... Lol .... Most peoples brains turn to custard when someone promises them something fir nothing .....
