Pay extra for auto ?

I was just about to order my sdrive35i in manual but took the 23i manual out for a few hours today in canary yellow. I now wonder if I should go for the auto. Sales guy told me that resale would be better with it. But not sure if he is pulling a fast one to sell more options.

I think the facelift may have new paddle shift for all models, i.e. left for downshift, and right for upshift.

Really? What makes you say that, have you heard something?

The facelift 3 series has left and right paddles so it would be a fair bet that they will swap for them.

They will defo change for paddles, every review I've read derides the current setup. Though doesn't bother me as my 35i M-Sport that's two weeks away is a manual :)

Not sure why - it takes about 30 seconds to master, and being able to up & down shift with either hand is very useful, particularly in tighter bends where the wheel is at an odd angle. Ho hum.............

I kept doing it wrong when I had the test drive in a 30i auto 2 years ago (I used to play PC driving game with left down/right up setup :D ). The auto gear lever on 23i/30i is ugly and out-of-date.

5-series F10 with sport auto have left down/right up paddles  .

x2

If it's a 23i your going for???? The 8 speed setup is on the way apparently.

The paddles in the current setup are perfect for me as I have a dodgy arm  It's actually one of the reasons I bought the car over another brand.

I have never had an auto before buy I absolutely love the setup on my 23i... I have got the paddles for a bit of fun and in sports mode the car still has that "sporty" feel! It also makes my long commute to work so much easier!!!

Cheers,

Ames x :driving:
