same Andy. really sad about it, as are my friends. Strange as we only know him from films - but as my mates pointed out I couldn't count how many times we have watched them - hours and hours worth. And when you're a whipper under the age of 16 this kind of guy was going to be an idol for a lot of petrol heads, which lasted a good twelve years since.

This. He was definitely an idol of mine. Being 22 I have grown up with the films :(

I'm seriously gutted

One of his last interviews

They must have been travelling at very high speed for the car to be in that state. The Carrera GT has a central fuel tank, located between driver and engine, to protect it from damage in crashes. Yet it looks like fuel must have escaped onto a hot engine or exhaust, and ignited, causing the fireball. It has a carbon fibre chassis (for lightweight and rigidity), reinforcement bars in the doors and crash absorbing structures, front and rear, as well as the obligatory front and side airbags. It was a very safe car, safer than probably most cars on the road. Yet look at it in those pictures.

I don't want to play a blame game though. Most of us have done stupid things in cars which we have later regretted. It's tragic for them that theirs came at such high cost to them personally and is something they won't be able to live to regret.

Just something which might be quite a fun day out and for a good cause .... I think a few of my friends \ my brothers might have a road trip. I'm sure there will be a haaaauuuge number of chavs there but everyone will be there for the same thing.

Interesting followup on Rodas/Walkers crash:

Rodas' wife is suing porsche

http://news.yahoo.com/porsche-sued-over-crash-killed-paul-walker-234527307.html

Saying that the car is flauwed.... like driving 100mph in a suburban area isn't a flaw

She claims that her husband was doing 55mph and that he's 'was trained as a racing driver'.... (in my book that means speeding and not a lot of common sense  )

only in America.....

Sadly ironic that Paul Walker should die in this way highlighting the difference between real life and films, whatever the cause of the accident.

Shame she is doing that as I am sure the last thing that either Paul or his compadre would have wanted is this outcome!

I would imagine her gravy train has run out...

Porsche denies al of Rodas' wife claims and states that the dangerous/irresponsible driving and alterations to the car are the cause of the crash.

Typical america, lawsuits follow accidents..
There's also a lawsuit from walkers dad to Rodas I think for some money (I think for the shared business they had or so).

"A properly functioning rollcage would have prevented the crash''?!

That's disgraceful that she'd even try the lawsuit on tbh. It's a tragic accident, they were doing what they loved and unfortunately it went wrong, but don't tarnish their memory efforts by trying to make it something it isn't ffs.

What are your guys thoughts on an eight instalment?

Just read that article.... Couldnt get over one point.... Towards the bottom.... Walker standing next to red car similar to the porsche he was killed in.... Umm no nothing similar except the colour!!

Now it the daughter that sues porsche for being faulty:

Walkergate continues...
Somehow they don't seem to understand that if they wouldn't have driven like lunatics nothing would have happened...
Or is it just money what they're after? (You'd think that a famous hollywood filmstar has money enough....)

It's over a collection of expensive cars the pair of them bought and maintained/modified together.
Walker's dad wants the families share from the proposed sale by Rodas family.
Seems they did try diplomacy at first but Rodas would have none of it.

Such a shame the death of a loved one often brings out naked greed in those left behind.

Seems there's no such thing as an accident anymore, someone always has to be blamed and the relatives' have to have the their pound of flesh.

[marvin] Depressing really [/marvin]

In fairness i expect its more to do with the greed of a lawyer taking advantage of someone that is high on emotion left looking for answers as to why they have lost their loved one.

The lawyer taking on the case will get paid regardless of the result and regardless of whether it gets thrown out of court.

I always thought that in the US lawyers on these type of cases typically worked on no cure no pay?

I think the family wants some 'form of justice', but there is no one to blame except the driver imho. Especially as he was a competition race driver (walker too btw).
So they try to disgrace Porsche..
