One of the best quotes i read today was buy Jenson Button:

"If one day speed kills me do not cry because i was smiling" - Paul Walker

Poor bloke, really upsetting to hear this news.

Watched all his F&F movies, also the Joyride movies as well and he was a great actor. Great all round guy who will be missed by many.

Thought with friends and family - RIP Paul.

I must admit until today I'd never heard of the bloke or watched any of the films, but he seems a very well liked chap and it's far too young an age to go. RIP.

Have to say mixed emotions on this one. Sad to see, and RIP to them both nobody deserves that. But having watched the videos, seen the car bent almost 180 round a tree and the debris all over the road, what speed were they doing? Reports saying a 45mph zone sign on pole in road another report says 30mph zone, and at 3pm in the afternoon on a Saturday! Local sheriff says "speed was a factor", no s**t..... Plus an experienced racing driver loosing control, for this to happen the car would need to have been near it's limit which means 150mph+, unless another car was involved to force the loss of control which means an illegal street race, or a fault with the car, or swerving to avoid something, even then they must of been going some.

This seems reckless at best, down right stupid at worse. At least they didn't kill anyone else in another car or a pedestrian / spectator. Still sad to see and thoughts go out to family and friends.

You can see signs hanging with google maps/streetview in the street were it happened. Not that that matters, because I don't think there is a speed limit that would have been in accordance with the speed they were going.
But dont speak about road safety etc here mate, because you will be pointed out as being downright

Wherever that might be.
Maniac, I don't think you would have said the same if you've lost a relative innocently because of someone's reckless driving

Interesting spectrum of reactions.

Now imagine, for example, that a child had been standing there on that median strip next to the tree. Does your reaction change?

The death of two men in their prime is a very sad thing indeed, but I think the tributes need to be balanced by a proper perspective on the danger of what they were doing. Not so much for themselves, but for others. This was a public road, not a race track.

Too soon?

EDIT
censored

It was too soon, apparently. You can laugh about everything, but not with everyone.

Nothing has been said about exactly what happened, and whilst it may well have been due to reckless driving I find it laughable that the armchair accident investigators on here have condemned the passenger. Oh, and the driver is not the subject of this thread, there's no suggestion that the passenger could have caused the accident, if anyone was to blame it was the 'professional racing driver' behind the wheel.

So yes GuidoK, your continued banging on about road safety is tasteless and doesn't have a place in this thread.

+1

Guidok, take your self inflated morals to Facebook where you can post a picture with some white text and as people to like it.

I read on t'interweb (so we all know that is correct info and set in stone) That there were 'figure of eight' & donut tyre marks where it happened.

Well in Guideok's defence it is pretty obvious they were going well above 45mph (saw the sign post knocked down in the bbc news)

Someone at work had a teenage relative of theirs killed by a speeder doing 70 in a 30 zone... Their response this morning was far worse! Which is understandable i guess - in their case the driver got an 18 month sentence.

But Paul and his friend have died as a result of their actions so think they have payed the price and cant defend themselves so this tread really isnt the place.

You can see them on google maps satalite and street view. I'll find a link later..

If they are on google then it wasn't from their car. Google isn't real time images so they were probably from a while ago. Not to say they weren't doing anything like that. It may be that's a local spot people go to do stuff like that?

Edit. The marks look like they're on a car park next to the road.

not funny, not needed and disgraceful for you to post that here..... ban this fucker for even posting this up..... prick.

Oh, don't be so rude it's not mockery, just a joke - that might be funny to some people. I thought it would help "soften the atmosphere" .

That doesn't mean I don't have respect for the man. Someone dying that young - it's always tragic.

Nothing to joke about imo!

Such sad news. :(

It seems that the "show will go on" though!

Whats equally saddening is the culture that exists where a grieving friend and colleague is filmed by onlookers smartphones in some sort of group media trace.

You couldn't make this sh*t up.
