Passport renewal

Somebody told me that a passport could be renewed using an electronic link to a previously submitted Driving Licence photo.

I can't find any ref to this. Has anybody used the method?

Thanks, I just had a quick scan at the application on line but didn't see any obvious ref to the driving licence photo route.
Now I know its there I'll look more closely.

Appreciate the reply

We renewed our passports earlier this year - we both have the old style pink driving licence with no photo  so we had to renew using the traditional method ie getting the forms from the Post Office , completing said forms and using a photobooth to get up to date photos - bearing in we are " mature " and were only renewing our individual passports ( our children have long flown the nest ) it was a doddle - as a renewal all you need is the number of your current passport ( which you send off with the renewal application ), complete your personal details and shove everything in the envelope that came with the application form and send off - unless you're incredibly dense ( I'm sure you're not  ) it's so simple it's a waste of money to pay another tenner to have it checked at the Post Office . Our new passports came back within a week :D :D

I'm sure that I will manage without their help!

The e-photo will be a great help. I renewed my driving licence only two years ago and have grown a little more wrinkly since then!

Hi Ronk - just changing the subject I see you also clay shoot - renewing a passport really is a doddle compared to renewing your shotgun certificate - I foolishly surrendered mine earlier this year when I thought I might give up shooting and then changed my mind and had to apply again - took two months to come through even after being interviewed by our local firearms officer - in the end I had to formally complain to the Chief Constable to get things moving or I would still be waiting now - was a bit risky to do this as it could have gone the other way !

I'm going to hang onto mine - I think its a privilege and not a right to have a certificate these days.
At renewal last time I was interviewed by a civvy officer! At least she was a shooter. On a previous occassion I had to show the officer where to look for the serial numbers.

I couldn't find an option to submit the Driving licence photographs during the on line application!

I contacted the passport office and they say that they have never heard of it.

So new photographs are needed at renewal after all.
