Have a problem with the passenger window dropped both windows yesterday on a nice sunny drive got home and the passenger window refuses to go up checked all the fuses according to the fuse diagram all ok.
When pressing the switch on the drivers side i can hear a relay clicking but no noise at all from motor anyone any ideas?

Thanks for the sugestions the cables all appear to be in place and tight the car is booked in with my local independant next week expecting to be a few notes lighter when I get it back

Mine "looked" fine, although it wasn't working.. Upon removal (cables are on the back of mech, so not visible with door panel removed) it was obvious that the cable hadn't snapped, but frayed, and the loose wires had bunched up around one of the upper wheels.

Actually, that's just reminded me to order a driver's side one and get it done this weekend, before it fails...

Easy, the most awkward think was carefully removing the door liner by slicing through the mastic, so it could be re-used, I certainly wasn't giving BMW £25 or so for a bit of plastic foam..

You'll need 3 short M6 bolts and nyloc nuts to reaffix the winder body to the motor, as you have to drill out the folded over "rivets" to take it apart.

I used this video for advice;

window regulator are normally culprit here the cable may have snapped or come off reel

If this was the case would I be able to lift the window by hand as I cant move it at all?

until you take the door card off and look whats going on behind you don't know its could just be jammed most likely its failed though its pretty common on a lot of cars. Mine has had 2 new window regulators for both side at some point in its life by past owners when I looked through parperwork

The panel is removed cant lift the window from underneath the cables appear to be in place and ok as far as I can see

if its not the regulator its the pump gotta be there the two main problems unless the window is wedged and just not working

just had call from the inde looking at my car body control module faulty caused window motor to burn out looking at £750 ish to replace both and recode :thumbsdown:

Yikes, I was wondering whether to get BMW to replace my regulator and do the valve cover gasket at the same time. Both together came to £864 so I'm gonna attempt to do them both myself. Lots of useful videos out there.

That sounds strange, surely it should take the fuse out first before the motor burnt out? I Wouldn't be happy paying £750 for that :thumbsdown:

Yes be careful here as my sister has a bmw X3 and had same problem 2 months ago on her drivers door window. She took it to her local place she recently had new turbo £1000+ at what I thought was a decent garage called Autobahn in Birmingham bmw specialist apparently. So she phones me tells me the problem I said window regulator straight away as that's common. Autobahn then quoted her £600 for parts and labour saying the pump had gone. She bought the car straight round for me to look at. I could tell the door card hadn't even been removed so god knows how they can diagnose a fault on guesswork. Anyway after taking it off myself we could see the cable was all rusted and had snapped. I sent her to my local garage who works on my cars the part was £80 and £30 labour
